Toward World Youth Day

SPAIGN, mkf. In order for World Youth Day that will take place in August 2011 in Madrid to be a true and decisive event in the lives of many Schoenstatt youth, who are preparing to participate, and for many of the two million who will arrive from allover the world, the Schoenstatt Family from Madrid and all of Spain is making the effort to give the experience of knowing the two Madrid Shrines as places of prayer, graces, opportunities for making connections, and forming new friendships.

The Shrine of Pozuelo and the one at Serrano will hold different Schoenstatt Apostolic Movement youth events for those who will congregate to attend World Youth Day. There will be an International Retreat for the Girls’ and Boys’ Youth on the days previous to World Youth Day http://jmj2011.schoenstatt.es/. The activities will begin on August 15th and approximately 2,000 youth are expected to gather.

The Shrine of Pozuelo will be a place for religious instruction

The Schoenstatt Apostolic Movement has offered the Pozuelo Shrine of Alarcón to the Diocese of Madrid as a place for religious instruction during World Youth Day. The teachings will be presented by bishops to the different nationalities of youth as part of the official World Youth Day program, and it is estimated that more than a thousand people could attend.

This wonderful offer needs some logistical and financial support. Since December, the Schoenstatt Family began working on this by selling lottery tickets, and in the coming weeks and months, there will be different activities for raising the necessary funds.

Since this is such a large mission, a large amount of money is needed to finance the material things that will be needed.

The month of March has been called “the month of water”: so taking the predicted high temperatures in Madrid into consideration, the objective is to ensure there will be enough water that is so important for hydration as well as for hygiene. Each month something new will be conquered; prayer and contributions to the capital of grace are also an important way to collaborate.
