Rosary for our Mother Shrine Celebrates its 42nd Anniversary

sionce 42 years, a group of mothers prays for the Original ShrineWeiskirchen Mothers’ Branch. It was 1967. Fr. Kentenich had returned to Schoenstatt after 14 years in exile. Many people came to see their father and founder, but mostly to listen to his words of advice, looking for guidance. The Weiskirchen Mothers’ Branch also went to see him, borrowing an old Volkswagen bus from a construction company. Our hearts were on fire and we wanted to give our founder a present for his birthday. We wanted it to be a spiritual and practical gift. This is how we came up with the idea to pray the rosary every Monday for the intentions of the Mother Shrine.

In his thank you letter, Fr. Kentenich wrote:

“I give my special blessing to the Weiskirchen Mothers’ group!
This blessing is valid for all current and future groups in Weiskirchen!” J.K

Praying in the Original ShrineFor 42 years we have faithfully and consistently prayed the Rosary we offered then and which was blessed by our father and founder. The special blessing is our diocesan shrine, the shrine of everyday sanctity, which we received as a gift to Weiskirchen.

Every Monday, this Mothers’ group meets in the Mother Shrine

On 18 October 1914 Fr. Kentenich told the young seminarians in the then recently restored chapel: “It is good for us to be here. Here shall be our favorite place. How often in world history have not small and insignificant beginnings been the source of great and greatest accomplishments? Why could that not also hold true in our case?” He added: “Your hearts have caught fire. You have made my plan your own.”

This fire has enflamed many hearts until today and we can’t wait to see what the Blessed Mother has planned to do with us until 2014. And so it is that every Monday, the Weiskirchen Mothers’ Branch is spiritually united in a very special way to pray the rosary with “our” Mother Shrine.
