Catechetical Day in Washington

It was a day filled with deep experiences with talks, a beautiful mass celebrated by Archbishop Donald Wuerl, and conferences. There were numerous publishers offering their books. Of course, Schoenstatt was also present with books published by the Schoenstatt Sisters of Mary and by the Schoenstatt Fathers in USA, by Patris Argentina, Nueva Patris Chile, and Editorial Schoenstatt from Argentina and Chile.

Schoenstatt is present at the Washington Archdiocesan Catechetical DayWe didn’t sell more than seven books (unlike at the Hispanic Catechetical Day, where we sold more than 100), but since the goal of our stand wasn’t selling books, but exposing the Movement to the catechists and to the local Church, we were very happy to represent the Schoenstatt Movement that day. All 700 attendants received a green flyer called “Schoenstatt, a Movement of Holiness”, which introduces Schoenstatt in a great way. Three bishops received also the book “Joseph Kentenich, a life for the Church”.

New graduated catechists

At the end of the Mass, the new graduated catechists took a picture with Archbishop Donald Wuerl. Our new graduated catechists are Gilvar Morales and Malevis Molina, although actually they are working as catechists already for many years. Both sealed their covenant of love last year, and both are catechists at Our Lady of Lourdes parish. Gilvar coordinates the Hispanic catechesis at that parish, and also represents the Hispanic catechists at the Archdiocese (around 35% of all catechists of the archdiocese).

It was a great day for the archdiocese, for the catechists and for our Schoenstatt Family in Washington, DC.
