Unique Pilgrim Mother

Father David Musgrave of the Schoenstatt Fathers has acquired two unique Pilgrim Mother pictures made by Michael Quirk. Mr Quirk formerly of the British merchant navy designed and made these Pilgrim Mothers to be used by Father on board ships for crews and passengers.

The required specifications of these two Pilgrim Mothers are to adapt to conditions on board: light-weight and water-resistant plywood and varnish, Perspex, a heavy oval shaped base with a non-slip base finish to prevent falling over and sliding. However, the unique feature is the symbol of the fouled anchor – familiar to the RN, USN and many other world navies – but being in fact one of the most ancient symbols of CHRIST. This fouled anchor replaces the bell tower topside of the outline of the Shrine of the Pilgrim Mother.

Rumour has it, that following these proto-types, the next generation of such Pilgrim Mothers will be totally waterproof, float and in an emergency may be used for flotation.
