Preparing for 50th Schoenstatt Boys’ Walk 2019— Come along with us!

USA, Abel Gonzalez, Maria Fischer •

“I know that this is a sacrifice but just know many blessings will come out of it. Please let other people know …” With this clear challenge a few days ago, Abel Gonzalez sent off the information and invitation to the 50th Annual Schoenstatt Boys’ Walk, from the Wayside Shrine at 2309 Marguerite Street, Corpus Christi, to the Schoenstatt Shrine in Lamar, Texas. This year`s walk is scheduled for July 13th and 14th. —

A little history and an invitation

Forty-nine years ago, four boys set out to commemorate Father Kentenich’s ordination to the priesthood by founding the Schoenstatt Boys’ Walk. The purpose of the Schoenstatt Boys’ Walk is to encourage young men in considering a life of ministry. “We are very excited about this year because it’s the 50th Annual Boys’ Walk.

We would really like for you to make this sacrifice with us,” Abel Gonzalez and Primo Garcia shared in their invitation. Boys and men of all ages are welcome to join the walk.

The what, when, and where

The first day of our journey will begin promptly on Saturday at 5:00 AM at the Wayside Shrine, 2309 Marguerite Street, Corpus Christi, Texas. Those walking need to arrive at 3:00 PM at St. Mary’s Star of The Sea Catholic Church, Aransas Pass. The second day of our journey begins promptly at 5:00 AM Sunday at St. Mary’s Church, continuing the journey toward the Schoenstatt Confidentia Shrine at Lamar, arriving about 3:00 PM. The annual pilgrimage/walk will culminate with Holy Mass followed by dinner.

Join us by sharing
