ARGENTINA, Leticia Vicente de Sorondo. The enthronement of the Holy Family sculpture in the Land of the Promise Shrine on Sunday May17th constituted a transcendental moment for the entire Community of Rawson, Trelew, Puerto Madryn, and the Chubut Valley.

The Family began the conquest of this very important symbol over a year ago. In order to obtain the spiritual conquest, abundant contributions to the Capital Grace were made. The visits to the Shrine offered as such showed in the abundance of contributions, which upon each visit, a gem was deposited in the Capital of Grace container: a brown gem for mothers, a green gem for fathers, and a white gem for children.

The material conquest also had to be carried out by the whole Family. In order to make it specific, two films were shown in the Rawson Cinema/ Theatre, homemade jams were made, tea parties were organized with skits and music and also donations for this aim were received.

Crossing the Andes

Chilean sculptor, Oscar Miranda, who has made other works for the Mater in our Shrine made the sculpture. After several months of work, conquest, and expectation, the Family was informed that the work was ready. Marta Radice and Tilsa Denicola, demonstrating total commitment to this cause, traveled to the brother country to look at it. Finally on Sunday the 10th and after a long trip, they arrived at Rawson, where Fr. Juan Note, the Rawson parish priest, together with a great part of the community, received the sculpture in the Holy Family Chapel by sharing the Eucharist.

Blessing of the sculpture to the doors of the Shrine

The activities on Sunday 17th May began at 4.30pm with the prayer of the Holy Rosary at the Wayside Shrine. After 5p.m. in the Shrine Hall, we shared the Holy Mass, celebrated by Fr. Juan Pablo Catoggio.

Once the Celebration of the Eucharist was finished, Carlos Papaiani and Daniel Prusso were in charge of carrying the sculpture to the front of the Shrine and they escorted by the children who took floral offerings along with the rest of the community who accompanied the procession.

At the door of the Shrine, under God the Father’s glance (symbol of the Father at the Shrine’s door), P. Juan Pablo Catoggio, Superior of the Region of the Father of the Schoenstatt Fathers, blessed the sculpture in the presence of a multitude of people who approached to celebrate this great moment and to receive it with joy.

Next in Her Shrine, Mater sheltered the sculpture of Nazareth’s Holy Family that, from its left side, represents Jesus’ communion love, Mary and Joseph. After the blessing and while the people contemplated the new symbol, the gems were distributed as a memory with which the sculpture had been conquered spiritually. As a closure of the happy day, tea was shared as a Family and being thankful once again for his presence farewell was said to Fr. Juan Pablo.

At sunset, only one star shone in the sky. It was over the Shrine…
