CONFERENCE 2014, Angie Santos/Father Matheus Bernardes/mkf. It was like a dream. In the glacial cold of this year’s European winter, on the day of the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, around 100 people carried close to thirty-five symbols – such as crowns, Pilgrim MTAs, wheat spikes, a cart of triumph, Father symbols – entered the small Original Shrine representing the growth in their countries from the Covenant of Love that Father Kentenich and the Sodalists sealed here almost 100 years ago.

All the work that took place during these days began by placing the uniqueness of each country, its fruitfulness, and its yearnings in the hands of our Mother in the Shrine. The participants were asked to bring a symbol that represented the Schoenstatt Family in their country; after a group picture was taken at the Schoenstatt Heroes’ Memorial, they gathered around the Shrine for this significant act.

After an opening prayer, in which the Schoenstatt Founding Document was read in different languages; Father Heinrich Walter, President of the General Presidency, entered the Shrine to receive, one by one, the representatives from the countries with their respective symbols.

Father symbols, pictures of the Shrines, Father’s hands holding a paten, wheat spikes, crowns, a typical cart from Costa Rica, and even an African lance, a perfect example of the uniqueness of the Schoenstatt fruits in each country. The "Supervisor" Pilgrim MTA of John Pozzobon – the picture he used to carry in the last years of his life - , who initiated the Schoenstatt Rosary Campaign, with its original contribution and apostolic strength having reached all the continents, was outstanding among the other symbols.

Father, your inheritance our mission

Following this very meaningful moment, the participants began a pilgrimage by climbing up to Mount Schoenstatt and ending at the resting place of our Father and Founder, a meeting place for his spiritual children. Little by little, the symbols were also placed on his tomb, and in an atmosphere of self giving, commitment, and emotion the words: Father, your inheritance our mission, here we are, we go with you, our hand in your hand, our heart in your heart were intoned again and again.

Then the Holy Mass was celebrated with Father Heinrich Walter presiding and about thirty Schoenstatt Fathers from the five continents also con-celebrated. In his homily, Father Heinrich once again motivated the participants to reflect together about the challenges of the time and the significance of the centennial celebration of the Covenant of Love.

It is important to stress the effort made by the group that was transmitting Conference 2014 live, via the Internet. During the Mass, they connected with more than 900 people from more than thirty countries, even from Singapore through www.schoenstatt-tv.de .

Many lamented that it was not possible to save or copy the archives, most of all, the outstanding interview with Father José Garcia that was truly a gift, a great "Schoenstatt itinerary" facing 2014.

After Mass, the participants took the symbols to the hall of the Father Kentenich House: the Cenacle. The work of the Conference began there close to the treasures from each country.
