CHILE, rcm. On December 13th, a new community of Dawn Breakers was founded in San José de Calasanz, in Barrancas, Puerto de San Antonio. Thirteen new Dawn Breakers, including a priest joined in this life current that has attracted attention for some time, as the Rosary of Men in Brazil, because of its strength and its growth. Also some time ago, it crossed into Chile; there are Dawn Breakers communities of men who "feel called to live with more commitment to the Church, through the presence of the Blessed Virgin Mary," as expressed by the Dawn Breakers from Con Con in Bolivia, Peru, Costa Rica and Puerto Rico.

The Dawn Breakers departed very early from Los Pinos, de Placilla, and Father Cristián departed from Con Con on the coastal side of Providencia and Maipú on the side of the Capital. They took routes that would take them to San Antonio; there they met the people from Rocas of Santo Domingo.

Teddy, the driver was stopped by the highway patrol, which is normal at this hour of the morning, the anecdotal thing was that the patrolman asked him to get out of the vehicle to take a breathalyzer test…Fortunately the great driver was in perfect condition and they were able to continue.

They were already in the Chapel at ten minutes before 7:00 a.m. Father Heliodoro Latas began the Eucharist a little after 7:00 a.m. He welcomed them and then Father Cristián spoke.

The community of Dawnbreakes welcomed them

The ceremony of Founding was performed after Communion; Manuel Montecinos read the rite inviting them to be active participants in the life of the Catholic Church and of the Community of San José Calasanz. Afterwards their names were stamped and signed by the Founders and the visiting Dawn Breakers. There was a presentation of gifts: the Mission of the Dawn Breakers pendants of course, a candle that symbolizes the presence of Christ and a set of mugs to enjoy at their breakfasts.

After the blessing, Father Heliodoro invited them to a cup of tea. It was a very pleasant breakfast; there was exchange of experiences and the introduction of the new Dawn Breakers. This community already has Eucharistic Ministers and two guitarists. That is to say…what a better beginning…?

After 9:30, they began the return trip. In reality, looking in from the outside, this is madness, but the Dawn Breakers had the satisfaction and great joy of participating in this beautiful Founding Celebration. They are convinced that these communities that gather so many men are truly what God wants for this time, and with the support of the Blessed Mother, the Dawn Breakers will make an effort to maintain exemplary loyalty to their Mission.

Testimonies of the "new Dawn Breakers"

"Saturday, December 13th, has been a very special day, because we were gathered in the joy of the Holy Spirit, which encouraged us during the early hours of the morning, and accompanied by our brothers who visited us from Santo Domingo, Viña, Valparaiso, Providencia, and Maipú were united in the same Spirit. We participated in the first Mass as a group of Dawn Breakers from Barranca."

"Our official founding was important and special because along with those who visited us, we experienced this time as a community of brothers with a true spirit, which demonstrates the concern and interest for each other to encourage our founding and to support this group of committed men in their walk with Jesus and Mary. With this, we will undoubtedly meet our challenge and commitment to grow and to become strong. Consequently other brothers can join us to manifest our faith and to be an active part of the different communities, where men can make a commitment to Jesus Christ and their presence visible [in their communities]."

The Founding Act and the participants of this morning in San Antonio will remain as witnesses to the founding of a community, which undoubtedly will bear much fruit," wrote the Dawn Breakers from Con Con. "Congratulations, men!"
