ARGENTINA, Cristina and Eduardo Colombo/mfk. Surely over time in Resistencia, Argentina, the story of April 6th will be told, and perhaps when those young people who were involved are over eighty years old, they will still be telling their children and their children’s children about the day when they, as Schoenstatt pioneers in their diocese, Resistencia, sealed their Covenant of Love before the Auxillary MTA of the Rosary Campaign. Then maybe they’ll be like the eighty-five year old German Schoenstatter who did not hesitate for a second in answering a young man’s question about his first encounter with Schoenstatt, and recalled everything vividly like it was yesterday. Even after so many years, he recalls the date and place Father Alex Menningen visited his parish, and spoke to young people about the founding heroes, Schoenstatt, and how from that moment he knew: this is my life’s mission… And how in the middle of World War II, he sealed his Covenant of Love with his group and by doing so founded the Schoenstatt Young Men’s Group of the diocese. Even to this day, he celebrates the anniversary of his Covenant of Love each year with sincere joy and gratitude, and this year for the sixty-eighth time! On April 6, 2008 in the Resistencia Cathedral, Daniel, Marcelo, Carlos, Guillermo, Juan Ramón, José, Gonzalo y Martín, sealed the Covenant of Love and so the Schoenstatt Young Men’s Branch was founded in Resistencia, Argentina. Eduardo Colombo along with his wife Crisitina are the Diocesan Coordinators for Resistencia and accompany the Young Men’s and Women’s Groups respectively. Father Pedro Kuehlcke is the advisor for the groups. Their group started the "Covenant Round" last July; now with this Covenant on April 6th, they have reached not only the goal of this preparation session, but the first step on a road that’s just beginning to lead them deeper and deeper into Schoenstatt’s world. Who knows how many more young people from this place might feel called-inspired for the testimony and example of the lives of these young men- to follow them in this way? Hearty congratulations to these audacious pioneers, seeds of a sacred new spring. Translation: amj, USA |
