SCHOENSTATT, MKF. The dark red roses and the white lilies in the Shrine close to House Marienland, in Schoenstatt, are a reminder of the great day of celebration after the departure of Course 17 of the Mothers’ Federation of Germany. On July 21st this course made its first consecration, which implies their official acceptance to the Mothers’ Federation. They were accompanied by the council of Federation, the local leaders, the Mothers’ Federation, who helped in the preparation as guides, and representatives of the ladies and mothers of the Schoenstatt Movement, the groups from which the majority belong and where thy continue to be active with apostolic contributions. This new contribution is a very important to the young mothers of the Federation. After the ceremony a song of congratulations and sisterhood was intoned enthusiastically: "It is good that we mutually have each other: Mothers’ Branch, Mothers’ Federation…"

"For us it was very, very important to invite the mothers of the League, in which we learned about Schoenstatt and grew spiritually, to our consecration, and to whom we are very grateful. We were very glad that it was possible", commented Annemarie Lanzke, from the Diocese of Hildesheim, in the midst of the bustle of congratulations after the solemn Mass where she made her consecration along with her course. And she repeated it pertly and with happiness that also for the first time –through the presence of the Press Office – the Schoenstatt public was present.

A milestone

It is always a special moment when someone seals the Covenant of Love, said Father Theo Breitinger, spiritual assistant of the Mother’ Federation in Germany, at the beginning of the homily during the Mass celebrated in the afternoon. Its efficacy was proved by the trio of the Callegari, Nicolazcyk and Lohaus sisters; the three are in the Mothers’ Federation and they participated in the celebration as area leaders or group leaders –and who provided the mothers with a magnificent musical accompaniment, stressing how special this moment was. Since, when a community, a course, seals the Covenant of Love in common, said Father Breitinger, it is even more special.

The consecration of the Mothers’ Federation is a milestone in the personal history of each one; it is personal step to pass through the threshold toward the community to which they feel called, much is expected and the one to which they must also give much. It is also an insertion in the history of the Mothers’ Federation: when a new course enters, it is the bearer of new hopes and it wants to give the best of itself.

The consecration of the Federation, said Father Breitinger, is at the beginning like every Covenant of Love, a guarantee, a renewal of the baptismal covenant, the covenant of God with us. At one time each one assumed it personally, at some time each one sealed the Covenant of Love as a personal call from God. And when man commits to this call, great things happen. Today, we can also expect the greatest. "We integrate ourselves to be fruitful in Federation and all the rest should be God’s business, Father Breitinger affirmed. He mentioned the third aspect of this consecration: the incorporation into the Mothers’ Federation. It is placing oneself at the disposal of this community. This is what the Founding Father expected of the Federation in Schoenstatt, of the Mothers’ Federation, which has been the object of extensive study and conversations. "But now we have been admitted, to be a transparency of the MTA. The world that surrounds us should be an encounter with the Blessed Mother through each one". In the community we experience a family life; united we travel the road towards holiness and the apostolate in solidarity. And all of this is a reason to be grateful to be happy. God can send the new consecrated ones to the ends of the world", Father Breitinger complemented, that is to say "to the last corner of my world".

It is good that we, united in the Covenant of Love, work together…

The only thing that ended the wave of congratulations in front of the Shrine was the drops of rain, which became more intense. Everyone wanted to congratulate each one, to express gratitude… joy reigned! The "Western Region" was in charge of the table decorations for the festive tea time which was a gift for the consecration of the new course. The protagonists were seated with their guests at the beautiful tables prepared with great affection, down to the last detail. After listening to the words of gratitude of Annemarie Lanzke and Rosemarie Schild in the name of Course 17, the mothers experienced what it meant to be welcomed by a community with open arms. The words of the area leaders were so affectionate, that all the fear they had before about facing something new vanished in an instant.

The special attraction was the congratulations of Sisters Caya, Sophia and Marie Jeannette in the name of the mothers of the League, who spontaneously invited Sister Luciane, the leader of the Mothers’ Federation – and also the advisor of the league in some dioceses -, and Father Breitinger –who is also National Advisor of the Mothers’ Branch – who changed places to join them. "Congratulations for your consecration", he said, united with the promise of praying in the Shrine and to make contributions to the Capital of Grace. Then there was the song that became a "catchy" melody. "It is good that we mutually have each other, Mothers’ Branch, Mothers’ Federation...It is good that together we live in the covenant with the MTA. It is good that you have been consecrated, it is simply our happiness. It is good that we, united in the Covenant of Love, work together…

Then they all sang the song together. And then someone discovered that the song could be adapted to other groups, that it need not be sung only by mothers, and it was not only for the League and the Federation.

It is good that we mutually have each other!
