SPAIN, Teresa and Ricardo Martino. A journey of "open house" took place on May 20, 2007, the Feast of the Ascension of our Lord, in the Schoenstatt Marian Shrine of Pozuelo de Alarcón (Madrid, Spain). The motto was "My home is your home", the Schoenstatt Family of Madrid extended an open invitation to share a family day along with our beloved Blessed Mother in the Shrine. Last year’s experience was repeated since it was such a success, but this day promised a lot of rain. The journey began with rain, but little by little the rain diminished when the first pilgrims arrived. Throughout the day there were three Eucharistic celebrations with the participation of pilgrims, children, youth and Schoenstatters. The Family also participated in the celebration of some Covenants. The children enjoyed the inflated castles, the popcorn machine, games, "face painting" workshops, balloons and crafts, as well as the "storyteller" with the puppeteer of Vali and his inseparable doll "Renata, who encouraged the little children to take their drawings to the MTA in the Shrine. A family around its ShrineEveryone enjoyed the live music, Celtic dances and a raffle. There was also a snack bar with pastries and "hot-dogs". Everyone enjoyed a picnic lunch in the pine grove and on the "sunlit grounds" of this wonderful land…Tents were set up with "stands", where the different members of the Schoenstatt Family explained their apostolic work, the activities of the Movement; they also explained their spirituality and they distributed brochures and books. Different parishes that work with the Pilgrim MTA also participated and they made an offering to the Mother and Queen in the Shrine. The Schoenstatt youth ended the day with a Mass and later that night they organized a "café-concert", in which "friends of Schoenstatt" played pop and rock music as well as Schoenstatt songs. It was a day in which we experienced an authentic Family spirit along with our beloved Mother in the Shrine. The sisters of Mary, who were the hostesses, made everyone feel "at home". Undoubtedly, the Blessed Mother felt glorified once again, Thank you. Translation: Celina Garza, Harlingen, TX, USA |
