"That they may have life"

A Way of the Cross for unborn children and their mothers

"Whoever prays this Way of the Cross…will be introduced to the anguish and the interior distress that women, who are carrying an unwanted child are feeling." writes the Bishop of Treir, Monsignor Dr. Reinhard Marx in the prologue of this Way of the Cross for unborn children and their mothers. This booklet was published just a few months ago and that has been written by the association "Sign of Light", an initiative of the Schoenstatt Family in Germany. "I am grateful to all those who unite in prayer with the women who are going through desperate situations", the Bishop continues to write. "And I am grateful to all who have committed themselves to take care of the lives of the unborn children, even in this way".

In the booklet mentioned above, personal meditation during the Fourteen Stations of the Cross is encouraged as it is related to the situations of the unborn child and the mother. It touches the heart to pray at the first station for the innocent children, who are condemned to death and it draws you closer to the anguish of the women who are experiencing the unwanted pregnancy contrary to their life plan. There is also a meditation for those who have decided to abort their child and now have to live with the burden of that decision. "How difficult it is for a woman with an unwanted pregnancy to accept her child and not concentrate on the problems of the pregnancy".

The suffering of the women who have to live with the decision they made of aborting their child, something of which many were not accurately informed, is addressed in a tender manner without accusations. The anguish of these women and the death of so many unborn children is profoundly moving. This Way of the Cross speaks of these situations so that it can be clearly perceived. It is a human suffering that cannot be surpassed. This is a pain that only "fits" in the Way of the Cross of Jesus. It is a suffering He has already carried with the burden of His Holy Cross. This is the silent and insistent message in this Way of the Cross.
