ARGENTINA/HOLY LAND, Miguel and Lilian Mateu. Members of the Schoenstatt Family from Argentina made a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, Schoenstatt and Rome. Father Guillermo Carmona accompanied them.. They traveled to the symbolic places of the Holy Land, with the perspective of the "Covenant", The Old Covenant, the New Covenant, and the Covenant to which Mary calls us in Schoenstatt, symbol, expression and according to the Baptismal Covenant sealed in and by Jesus.

The participants relate: "During these days we have traveled the road of the Covenant. While in the Holy Land we ascended to Mount Sinai, where Moses encountered the flaming bush and God gave him the tablets with the commandments. The people of Israel march through the desert towards the promised land. There they sealed their covenant with God.

Jesus as a Child, Jesus the friend, Jesus the beloved son, Jesus the Prophet

In the Holy Land they made contact with the New and eternal Covenant when they encountered the person of Jesus from different perspectives:

Jesus as the Child in Bethlehem and in Nazareth, and Jesus in the mystery of the Annunciation and the Holy Family.

They were able to renew their own Baptism in the waters of the Jordan.

They saw Jesus as a friend in Bethany, with Martha, Mary and Lazarus.

In Cana, they experienced him as the Son of Mary. There the couples renewed their marriage vows.

In the Sea of Galilee they saw Jesus as a prophet; in Tabor as the much beloved Son of the Father.

In Golgotha: as the sacrificial lamb as a sign of the New and Eternal Covenant.

In the Holy Sepulchre they encountered the Resurrected Christ.

In the Primacy of Peter, they experienced the legacy of the Church with Peter as the head. The loyalty and the obedience of Jesus, who gave his life for each one of us, nourished the desire to look for God.

John Paul II said: "It is God who goes out to meet us in the Eucharist, in the Word of God, in our brothers, and in the poor. You must have a heart that is awake and that is yearning in order to find the meaning of life."

To look for God through the Covenant of Love

In Schoenstatt there is also a sacred history of man looking for God in the Covenant of Love.

This how they summarized their experience: "These have been days of special graces that have enriched us and brought us closer to the mystery of God the man. This invites us to give testimony with our commitment when Jesus asks us: do you love me?"
