BRAZIL, ATIBAIA, Paulo Betschart. A few days ago, the Schoenstatt Family of Atbaia (in the state of Sao Paulo, and especially the Boys’ Youth , were celebrating: Eight boys, knelt in the Shrine of the Permanent Presence of the Father, to seal the Covenant of Love during a Mass celebrated by Father Clodoaldo Kaninmura, a Schoenstatt Father, Assessor of the Schoenstatt Boys’ Youth in the cities of the Southeastern Region of Brazil. The day began with a Covenant of Love Retreat, where besides deepening the meaning of the Covenant in salvation history, they also prepared the Covenant Prayer. This individual prayer is prepared by each boy with the help of the Assessor.

The Mass began at 6:30 p.m. with the song: "Jumas Somos Nos" ("We are the boys’ youth"), and with the entrance procession of JUMAS flags of Brazil and those of the Schoenstatt Pioneers. Some of the parents of the boys making the Covenant of Love did the readings of the day. In his homily, Father Clodoaldo spoke about courage! Especially when facing the common life situations of the youth which demand this virtue: testing of academic aptitude, dating, profession, knowing oneself, etc, situations in which the young man is called to sanctify himself.

At the offertory, several Unity Crosses, engraved with the name of each boy and the date, were taken to the altar by two of the oldest groups of the branch who have already sealed their Covenant in Atibaia: the"Griffins" and the "Heroic Wolves of the MTA". After communion, everyone went to the Shrine where the eight young men knelt and prayed their Covenant Prayer in Silence. Immediately afterwards, they signed the Covenant Book and received the Unity Crosses from Father Clodoaldo.

They received the final blessing after burning the Capital of Grace at the Joseph Engling pyre and all the members of the Boys’ Youth said the "Prayer of Father Franz Reinish" and they gave the JUMAS "yell": MTA, TA, MTA,TA, SCHOENSTATT’S BOYS’ YOUTH!!. Also present were the boys’ relatives, members of the Boys’ Youth of Atibaia and Araraquara (another city in our state) and the other Branches of the family in Atibaia.

"Pioneers Today, JUMAS Tomorrow!"

Urged by the motto of Atibaia’s Boys’ Youth "Pioneers Today, JUMAS Tomorrow!" for this Mass the boys, the current leaders of the groups, as well as all the Pioneers wore the conquered as Pioneers: a Handkerchief and Ring.

The Pioneers are the youngest members in the Boys’ Youth. They are boys up to the age of 14. This new group that made the Covenant of Love now enters the "JUMAS". In this manner, this group assumes a more mature form of all the ideals they assumed as Pioneers and they motivate the current pioneers to persevere. This assures a Boys’ Youth of the future which is fortified in its ideals.

The Boys’ Youth of Atibai are also preparing for the World Youth Day with Pope Benedict XVI and are sending one of the members from the branch to represent all of them who will accompany him spiritually. On the 5th of June they participated in an Encounter of all the Schoenstatt Youth of the Sao Paulo region, in the Shrine of Atbaia in preparation for World Youth Day in Germany. They want to unite with the Youth of all the world in our love of the MTA!

May this new group, who sealed the Covenant of Love, have the courage to persevere and in this way join all the Schoenstatt Family for a Tabor Brazil!!!
