MEXICO, Eduardo Shelley. The 25th anniversary celebration of the blessing of the first Schoenstatt Shrine in Mexico, on October 18th 1980, in Queretaro, is a time of special grace for us all. The Jubilee Year of the Shrine "Faithful Heart of the Church" began in October 2004 and will culminate with the Silver Anniversary in October 2005.

The new web page: www.schoenstatt.org.mx has the logo for the anniversary of the Shrine of Queretaro illustrated on the left upper corner. The web page contains the anniversary prayer, a short history of Schoenstatt in Mexico, which is illustrated with pictures and some of the past events. It also contains recent news about the `Leaders’ day`, prayers, surveys and a calendar of future events. Several parts of the web page are still incomplete and other parts need the reader’s involvement. Access to the site is gained by a free registration.

A Jubilee Year

The Jubilee Year was opened by the Bishop of Queretaro, Mons, Mario de Gasperin y Gasperin, in October 2004, "as a time of special graces for all the pilgrims to this Shrine." A grand party celebration will be held, in October, to close the Jubilee year.

"A full indulgence will be gained by a half hour visit to the Shrine in Adoration to the Blessed Sacrament or by praying the Holy Rosary. The pilgrims will also receive, in abundance, the three graces of this Shrine, which are spiritual shelter, interior transformation and apostolate. By contributing to the Capital of Grace the pilgrims and members of the Schoenstatt Family, show their love for the Blessed Mother and their intention of doing God’s will. Their efforts make this a very fruitful time of grace for all those who visit the Shrine and abundant blessings will flow, from this holy place, to our Diocese and our homeland."

During last year’s National Directors Day it was decided to use the Jubilee Year of the Shrine to design a document containing the History of the Movement in each Diocese and the places where there are new branches of the Schoenstatt Family during the last 25 years.

The National Coordinator of the Apostolic Movement of Schoenstatt, Fr. Jorge Avila Ferran, said that the main purpose of the jubilee year is to celebrate a year of special grace from the Shrine "Faithful Heart of the Church."

"In each diocese, in each place, in each Branch and above all in each heart, an abundant life must flow in the direction of our slogan; we have been extremely blessed because we have been entrusted with a mission, the mission of the Blessed Mother for our time. Thus I end with a sentence of our Father in the Schoenstatt Papers: "May the loyalty to our mission be my thankfulness for all her gifts."
