ITALY, Fr. Alberto Eronti. Could it be that Divine Providence is using the economy difficulties of some Latin American countries, causing people to immigrate to Italy, their ancestors’ country, in order to introduce Schoenstatt to the small villages and towns of Italy? The Pilgrim Mother obviously continues on her march through Italy opening first doors and then hearts to the graces from the Shrine to the mission of Schoenstatt.

In some of these places the Campaign started recently: in Colli de Tronto, dioceses of Azcoli Piceno, in Villafranca, Toscana. Others will follow...

Starts winning hearts in Colli di Tronto

November 3rd and 4th , Fr. Ludovico Tedeschi traveled to Colli di Tronto where the family of Vicente and Maria Zega from Argentina have lived for some time. They both were active participants in the Schoenstatt Movement in Trelew, in the Argentinian Patagonia. After arriving in Italy and establishing themselves in their new home, Maria started to work in the parish. Little by little people got to know and trust her. She spoke to Don Dante, the parish priest and he agreed to start a Schoenstatt Rosary Campaign.

Fr. Ludovico traveled taking ten Pilgrim images, two were assigned to visit the ill and another two to visit 15 families each. He gave the images to the first four missionaries and the future development was programmed. The village, population of about 400 families, ten Pilgrim MTA`s would visit 150 families, then they will see how the Virgin continues winning hearts.

It could be a pastoral revolution

This fact made us think that there is a ‘field’ where other Movements have not yet developed: the small villages and towns. The people who inhabited these villages and small towns are different from that of the big city. They are simpler, more religious and spontaneous. Of course they are not Latin Americans, they are more reserved, their manners are different, especially when we speak about de inhabitants of the North of the Peninsula. But we are already dreaming: the MTA is visiting hundreds of villages and small towns! This would be a pastoral revolution! For the moment it is only the beginning, but we believe that our Blessed Mother is in an ‘evangelic hurry’ and for her everything is possible.

So for those who read this information and have relatives in any of the Italian towns and think they can be love instruments in Mary’s hands, write to us! It will be a wonderful adventure!

Villafranca, Toscana: four pilgrim images

On Thursday October 7th, Fr. Ludovico traveled to Villafranca, in the Toscana region, to meet with Don Giovanni, the parish priest and a group of potential missionaries of the Pilgrim MTA. Sister Ivonne of the Sisters of Mary works in the area and little by little the Campaign is growing in the hearts of the common people in the rural areas of Italy.

Fr. Ludovico and Sr. Ivonne had a meeting with approximately 30 people to show them the contents, the meaning and the way to run the Campaign. During the Mass more people participated and the priest assigned two images, making it four images to pilgrim in the place.

Among the missionaries of the Pilgrim MTA is Mrs. Mirelda, who consecrated herself to God and the service of the poor. She adopted a handicapped girl and intensively works in the service of the Church. She fell in love with the Campaign and is now one of its best promoters.

This is how the Blessed Mother is adding and working in the different areas of the Italian geography. Let’s be grateful for Her work in this land tied to the Church and its 2000 years of history.
