October 5, 2003Brazil: Dedication of the Shrine in Frederico WestphalenBishop Zeno Hastenteufel of Frederico Westphalen will dedicate the 20th Schoenstatt Shrine of Brazil on this first Sunday in October. October 7, 2003Pilgrimage of the Holy Father to Our Lady of the Rosary, PompeyaAccompanied by the prayers at the Marian Shrines of the world, Pope John Paul II will visit the Shrine of the "Queen of the Rosary" in Valle di Pompeya, near Naples, Italy. At many Schoenstatt Centers, Shrines and wayside Shrines, or, by initiative of Schoenstatt groups, at cathedrals and in parish churches, Illumined Rosary, Thousand Hail Mary or Rosary meditation are offered on or around this day in spiritual union with the Pope and in thanksgiving for the Year of the Rosary; by the new Shrine in Cebu, Philippines, "Harana kang Maria sa Schoenstatt" will on October 5 be a Marian Sing-along in Philippine style to close the Year of the Rosary; in Paraná, Argentina, an Illumined Rosary will take place in the Cathedral, at October 11, as in Duisburg, Germany (Oct. 8); in Borken, each Saturday an Illumined Rosary is offered, with special invitation for children. Schoenstatt will organize the celebration in the Cathedral in Guayaquil, Ecuador (Oct. 4).
October 16 - 19, 2003Rome: Celebration of the 25th anniversary of Pope John Paul II - Closing of the Year of the RosaryRome and the entire Church will these days celebrate the 25th anniversary of Pope John Paul II being elected Pope. Highlights of the festivities are the beatification of Mother Theresa on October 19, and the official closing of the Year of the Rosary. October 16 - 19, 2003Schoenstatt: October WeekThe German Schoenstatt Movement's annual leaders' convention is focusing on Father Kentenich's and thus Schoenstatt's charisma for the person and the personal development. The closing of the Year of the Rosary is celebrated with an Illumined Rosary as vigil to October 18, the founding day; it will take place in the Adoration Church. Covenant Mass on October 18 will be presided by the new Archbishop of Freiburg, Robert Zollitsch, member of the Schoenstatt Institute of Diocesan Priests.
October 18, 2003Schoenstatt's Founding Day, the Day of the Covenant, the Day of the Original ShrineThere will be hardly any Schoenstatt Shrine, or wayside shrine without festivities, without the Schoenstatt family joining to celebrate the Covenant of Love. Like each year, some 40,000 or more pilgrims will come to the Shrine in Tuparenda, Paraguay, to the Shrine in Querétaro, Mexico, on the anniversaries of these shrines, and join the pilgrimage from the wayside shrine in Hasenkamp to the Shrine in La Loma, Paraná, Argentina. In Brasilia, Brazil, a big pilgrimage is planned for October 18, and October 19, with the neighboring dioceses, to celebrate the 18th, the anniversary of the Pope, and the Closing of the Year of the Rosary.
October 18, 2003Uruguay: 60th anniversary of the first Daughter ShrineOn October 18, 1943, the first exact replica of the Original Shrine in Schoenstatt was dedicated in Nueva Helvecia, Uruguay. The "multiplication" of Shrines has then since continued, Schoenstatt today counts with over 170 Shrines. The Schoenstatt family of Uruguay prepared intensively for this anniversary and invites all to spiritually join them. Greetings: colegmta@ardinet.com.uy October 18, 2003Brazil: Corner stone blessing for the Shrine in JacarezinhoAt the place where the first Schoenstatt Sisters began to conquer Brazil for the MTA, in Jacarezinho, a new Schoenstatt Shrine is growing. The corner stone will be blessed on October 18. On the same day, the Schoenstatt family of Florida will "take possession" of the land for the new Shrine that they could buy after long years of searching for the place where the Blessed Mother should erect her throne. |
