September 6, 2003Burundi: First ordination of a Burundian Schoenstatt FatherOn September 6, Deacon Deo Maruhukiro will be ordained priest in Bujumbura, Burundi - the first ordination to the priesthood of a Burundian Schoenstatt Father. September 7 - 9, 2003Germany: Peace Meeting of the Community Sant' Egidio in AachenThe Community Sant'Egidio - which counts with appr. 40,000 members worldwide - in collaboration with the Aachen diocese organizes a Peace Meeting; main issues that in Aachen will occupy religious leaders and other participants from more than 50 countries are "Europe" and interreligious dialogue for peace. The three-day meeting is the first such meeting in Germany. Participants are Cardinal Etchegaray, Kasper, Lehmann, and Meisner, representatives of the German government, and leaders from various religions. September 13, 2003Schoenstatt: Vigil for the Anniversary of Father Kentenich's deathIn Schoenstatt, the anniversary of Father Kentenich's death is prepared by a vigil on September 13. Gertraud Polak, Institute of the Ladies of Schoenstatt, will talk about the Marian face of the Church - Father Kentenich's mission for the Church -; a time of prayer and meditation will follow.

September 14, 2003Germany: Meeting of Ecclesial Movements and Communities in TrierFollowing an invitation of Bishop Reinhard Marx, Trier, the Ecclesial Movements and Communities of the diocese will meet in Trier for a day of prayer and encounter; approximately 400 persons will participate. After the Holy Mass in the Cathedral and an encounter with the bishop, various activities are to take place, sponsored by members of the communities. Schoenstatt will offer discussion groups on marriage, Divine Providence, education, and an Illumined Rosary.
September 15, 200335th anniversary of Father Kentenich's deathAll over the world, on this Monday people will specially remember Father Joseph Kentenich - it is the 35th anniversary of his death on September 15, 1968, early in the morning after celebrating Holy Mass. But they do not mourn a dead founder but celebrate a Father, Founder, Prophet, and Educator very much alive through the memories of those who met him during his lifetime, and the experiences of his fatherly care and closeness of those who live out of the experience of his presence. It is a day of gratitude, commitment and allying with Father Kentenich to work for the mission God entrusted to him and the Schoenstatt family that he founded. September 15, 2003Guatemala: First Central American Schoenstatt MeetingIn Esquapulinas in Guatemala - the central place of pilgrimage for Central America - the first Central American Schoenstatt Meeting will take place this day. Schoenstatt in the Central American states is young, often still small, growing, does not count with Shrines, or with members of Institutes or Federations being permanently there. The first Central American Schoenstatt Meeting is awaited with high hopes by all in view of coordination of the apostolate and further growth. September 24, 2003South Africa: Shrine to Shrine pilgrimage for peaceLike each year, pilgrims are invited to pray for peace as they walk from the Shrine in Constantia to the Shrine in Villa Maria, Cape Town, some 25 km. Holy Mass, meditations and common prayer is part of the pilgrimage, that ends with a benediction in the Shrine in Villa Maria. |
