BRAZIL,SANTA MARIA, Fr. Argemiro Ferracioli. On december 12, feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, John Pozzobon would celebrate his 98th birthday. As a gift and to honor him, the Schoenstatt family of Santa Maria will solemnly inaugurate a commemorative plaque at the place where he was hit by a truck in June 1985, on his way to the Tabor Shrine. He died soon afterwards in the nearby hospital. The celebration will begin in the Tabor Shrine; from there, all will process to the place of the accident. Some days ago a memorial stone has been placed there; it bears a bronce relief of the Pilgrim Mother, and the plaque with the words that John Pozzbon once said in view of his walking the streets of Rio Grande de Sul with the Original Pilgrim Mother on his shoulders: "If you find me dead at the wayside, you should know that I died of joy!" After the solemn blessing of the memorial, the participants will pray the prayer for the canonization and commit themselves once again to the person and message of the servant of God. The much bigger "memorial" proclaiming the mission of John Pozzobon is the Schoenstatt Rosary Campaign of the Pilgrim Mother, now present in more than 90 countries. Prayer for the canonization of John PozzobonGod, our Father, you have formed John Pozzobon into an exemplary husband and father, a friend of the poor and tireless pilgrim. He dedicated his life to carrying the Mother and Queen to families, hospitals, schools, and public institutions, while praying the rosary. Therefore, Father, I confidently ask you, in accordance with your will, that your servant be canonized, and through his intercession, that I may receive the grace I need so much: (state your intentions). With Mary, the great missionary, I pray to your glory, for the flourishing of the church, and the sanctification of the families. Amen.
