Upcoming Schoenstatt EventsAugust/September 2002 |
August 25, 2002Argentina, Mendoza: Queen and Educator for a new fraternal Argentina in solidarityAccompanied by Archbishop José María Arancibia of Mendoza, the Schoenstatt family of Mendoza on August 25, 2002, will crown Mary, proclaiming her as " Queen and Educator for a new fraternal Argentina in solidarity". The feast of the proclamation and crowning is a decisive step on the way towards the fraternal Covenant that the Schoenstatt family of Mendoza is to seal around November 18th, as their gift to Father Kentenich offered on behalf of the 50th anniversary of the National Shrine. This decision was made a pledge in the crypt of the Church of God Father in Florencio Varela on January 20, 2002. Another aspect of the preparation is the social commitment that the Schoenstatt family realizes with SEA SOLIDARIO (Schoenstatt in action of solidarity); with the missionaries of the Schoenstatt Rosary Campaign of the Pilgrim Mother distributing the donations (food, clothes…) given by the members of the entire movement, approximately 30 impoverished families are receiving continued spiritual and material support.

August 31, 2002Argentina, Córdoba: Blessing of the "Shrine of Life and Hope""During these difficult times that we have to experience in Argentina, I want to share with you a great joy: Archbishop Carlos Ñañez of Córdoba will bless the Shrine of Our Lady of Schoenstatt, located in the Center Father Kentenich, on Saturday, August 31, at 4:30 PM", Father Juan José Riba, Córdoba, shared in July. On September 15, 2001, anniversary of the death of Father Kentenich, and some days after the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Shrine took place. The program for the dedication is scheduled like this: Friday, August 30: 9:00 – 11:00 PM:" Song to life and hope"; afterwards: vigil of the youth Saturday, August 31: 8:00 AM – 1:00PM: reception and various programs: Visit to the Shrine in Villa Walcarde, or the historical center of the city.; 1:00 – 2:30 PM: noon meal possible in the Center; 2:30PM preparation, creation of atmosphere; 4:30 PM: blessing of the Shrine; 6:00 PM: festive snack For more information and to express congratulations, contact: Centro P. September 5, 2002Argentina: Rosary for a new ArgentinaThe editor of the Catholic Weekly "Cristo Hoy" invited the Schoenstatt Rosary Campaign of the Pilgrim Mother in Argentina to join in a rosary crusade for a new Argentina to be prayed simultaneously in the whole country, asking the Campaign to be in charge for the spirit and the realization of this initiative. Under the motto: "Argentina, with Mary sing and go ahead", this crusade will be realized in different subsequent paces, beginning on September 5 with the families; then, on October 6, in the parishes, schools, hospitals and public institutions; finally, on November 3, on squares, by wayside shrines, and emblematic places of the country. On each Sunday during these three months, Cristo Hoy will publish motivations for the joyful, sorrowful and glorious mysteries of the rosary written by the Campaign. The missionaries of the Campaign will also organize the prayer of the rosary during these days. "The transformation of the argentine society will not happen through magic solutions nor will come from outside, but through a profound change of the hearts," the National Assistant of the Campaign wrote on behalf of the launch of the crusade. "It is not only about praying the rosary, but to create in the others the attitudes of Mary, like confidence, acceptance of God's will, strength, commitment, solidarity, victory consciousness." This is how the missionaries understand the task; they already began to work with radio, posters, at schools, together with the bishops, to spread this crusade for Argentina. In the Founder Chapel, the red carpet that indicates the place where he died after having said Holy Mass for the first time in the adoration church, is replaced by a carpet of white lilies and carnations on this day. September 15, 2002Germany: 25th anniversary of the "Legacy Shrine" in the diocese of HildesheimOn January 22, 1967, Father Kentenich asked the Schoenstatt mothers of the diocese of Hildesheim – one of the largest in territory in Germany, but with a marginal number of catholics – to work for a Shrine in their diocese. Faithful to this legacy of the Founder, the small Schoenstatt family of this diocese on September 15, 1977, saw the blessing of the Shrine in Bad Salzdetfurth near Hildesheim. From this shrine, the legacy of Jesus – "behold your mother"-, the Marian legacy of the diocese – the thousand year old rose tree at the cathedral as symbol -, and the legacy of the Founder – the covenant of love - , are to be lived and shared. On September 15, Bishop Joseph Homeyer, diocese of Hildesheim, will celebrate the festive Mass on behalf of the 25th anniversary of the Shrine.
