USA, WASHIGTON D.C.,Carmen Luz de la Puente. Day in day out, the streets of Mt. Pleasant and Adams Morgan, two simple quarters of Washington DC, are witnesses of the Pilgrim Mother's presence. These are poor and run down zones with many children and few economical perspectives. A pretty big group of missionaries of the Pilgrim Mother participated in the five nights of Christmas Caroling in the streets of these quarters to praise Jesus who wants to be born again also for the people of these zones. Each night, prayers were said for world peace; the Blessed Mother was asked to protect the whole world and the United States.
Many of the people of Mt. Pleasant and Adams Morgan receive, in their houses or shops one of the 25 pictures of the Pilgrim Mother who is walking the streets of this zone, and they do so their hearts filled with longing. A nice note: they all want to know what they have to pay – many want to buy the picture, as they all fall in love with the "Virgencita", their dear Mother, and know that they can only receive her for some days, as she is the "Pilgrim Mother"!
Christmas Caroling
A pretty big group of missionaries of the Pilgrim Mother participated in the five nights of Christmas Caroling in the streets of these quarters to praise Jesus who wants to be born again also for the people of these zones. Despite of the cold many stayed with the group both to praise Jesus and to gain one of the porcelain mangers in each night's raffle. Those who participated with their instruments got more tickets to participate in the raffle. It was a marvelous experience with the Pilgrim Mother leading people to Jesus, as is her mission. Each night prayers were said for world peace; the Blessed Mother was asked to protect the whole world and the United States.
The Pilgrim Mother in the Inter American Development Bank
At the same time, about 25 pictures of the Pilgrim Mother are visiting in the Inter American Development Bank, where late Father Esteban Uriburu years ago gave talks conquering the hearts of many for ever for the Pilgrim Mother. Many are working hard there that the Pilgrim Mother visits the houses of those who work in this organization. Other pictures are visiting in the Organization of American States (OAS) and the Pan American Health Organization. In the OAS monthly meetings take place for all those who are interested in the Pilgrim Mother, and some of the missionaries actively participate in the monthly meetings of the organized Schoenstatt Movement.
On the go in Virginia and Maryland
The Schoenstatt family of Washington DC at the moment also "includes" a part of Northern Virginia and of Southern Maryland: The Virgin obviously wants, from the Capital of the United States, work as Virgin(ia) and in her Maryland, the "land of Mary". The pilgrim mother is visiting many families in Virginia and in Maryland. Once a month, on the Sunday close to the 18th of the month, the missionaries meet to thank the Mother for her visit. They meet in a parish, as there is not yet a Shrine in this area. But the missionaries are already conquering the Shrine spiritually with their capital of grace.
How beautiful is the awareness that once we walk the streets of Washington bringing the Pilgrim Mother from house to house, we know that thousands and thousands of people all over the world are doing the same, and that we join the growing number of our Pilgrim Mother's missionaries, united in the mission of St. Paul: We cannot stop until we have brought the redeeming love of our God to the last human being, to the ends of the world!
