AUSRALIA, Terry Pate. The Australian Schoenstatt Family is holding an extraordinary conference, called "New Shore", on the weekend of 26 to 28 June 2009 at Mt Schoenstatt in Mulgoa, Sydney. As the title suggests, this conference will deal with the future directions of our Movement here in Australia – its aim being to engender added vision and impetus to the Family.

The conference will have Fr Andrew Pastore of the Schoenstatt Fathers in India as facilitator and more than sixty Schoenstatters have registered to attend. This is roughly the capacity of the conference centre at Mt Schoenstatt in Mulgoa, Sydney, so the organising team is very pleased with the response from the members. This indicates the high level of commitment of Australians to the Schoenstatt mission in Australia. Those attending come from all the secular institutes, apostolic leagues and the Pilgrim Mother Apostolate - from Perth, Melbourne, Queensland and Canberra as well as locally in Sydney and surrounding districts.

Australia preparing for 2014

The format of this special conference will really be built around intensive discussion as the objective is for all the people attending to discern the direction for the future. Four discussion sessions will be held with three on Saturday and remaining one on Sunday. Saturday will be a focus on the experience of Schoenstatt Spirituality which gives the strength and knowledge for the task and Sunday on the Apostolic Mission. One of the outcomes hoped to see is a way forward for Australia to the celebration of the international centenary in 2014.

Friday evening will comprise of an opening Mass, a short input session titled "Who are we today?" followed by "Expectations for the Conference", a talk by Fr Andrew. These will set the scene for the Conference.

Our Apostolic Mission – Our Responsibility

The three sessions on Saturday will centre around "A Community of Faith", "A Spirit of Searching" and "A Community of Leaders". On Sunday the participants will concentrate on "Our Apostolic Mission – Our Responsibility". They will wind up with a sharing session and finally decide "Where to from here?".

Throughout the Conference all will enjoy encounters with Fr Kentenich and the Shrine and engage in lots of prayer and singing! All anticipate a very hard working weekend but are confident that the Holy Spirit will be in full attendance!
