URUGUAY, Raquel Puig. On May 16th a large group departed from Montevideo on pilgrimage to the Shrine of Nueva Hevecia. 120 kilometers separate the capital city of Uruguay to Nueva Helvecia, where the first daughter Shrine in the world was built. This pilgrimage had a noble and defined objective, to accompany, from a distance, the conclusion of the diocesan stage of the process of beatification of John Pozzobon and the presentation of documentation in Rome.

Guillermo y Ana Echeverría, from Argentina, arrived in Montevideo a few days before to accompany the Schoenstatt Family in a workshop with the title: "An encounter with John Pozzobon, model and missionary disciple". The Echeverría’s have participated in the Rosary Campaign since its beginnings, and along with Father Esteban Uriburu, they shared many pastoral actions, which included several pilgrimages to Santa María, where they met John Pozzobon personally. There were long conversations after the workshop, which were a friut of the strong interest of the Uruguayan Family to learn more about the Campaign and also to become more committed to it, as is their custom.

The activity began early

The participants arrived very early defying a very cold but sunny morning, the foreboding of a spectacular journey. After the celebration of the Holy Mass the participants shared an "invigorating coffee" and then they immediately went to work. The opening talk was an introduction for the group work about the different aspects of the life and mission of John Pozzobon and the Rosary Campaign. Much work was carried out about the missionary’s and the Campaign’s strength of evangelization. Each aspect of the task was related to the message of the Conference of Aparecida.

"We truly learned much about John Pozzobon’s charisma – an enthusiastic member of the Uruguayan Family told us – whom we admire deeply for the love he irradiated, and who converted a commitment into something that filled his life; rather, we want to imitate him in order to be light and fire for our family, for the families of the Campaign, and for all the families who receive our Pilgrim MTA.
