INDIA, Fr. Andrew Pastore. The community of Schoenstatt Fathers in India took a big step forward on 25th March 2009. The young foundation has grown over the years into a full fledged community. The 25th March was the day on which a young Delegation attached to its Mother Province, the Sion Province in Germany, became an independent Region in its own right. The day was celebrated in the presence of the whole province council from Germany, Frs. Brügger, Güthlein, Penners, Fluhr and Strecker, as well as some fathers and seminarians from the Indian community. As the community in India is going to crown the blessed Mother on the 31st May - that day is deemed as a celebration day fair in the this momentous act - not all were present. After a day of consultations (and some emotional and hearty exchanges) between the province and regional councils, they gathered for a celebratory Mass in the house chapel of the Fathers’ study house in Bangalore. In his sermon Fr Brugger spoke of the importance of the word "yes" in Scripture and in the history of our community. Today a new "yes" was being spoken. In the ceremony that followed in the Shrine, Fr. Pushparaj was named the first regional superior of India. The "next neighbors", the Schoenstatt Sisters of Mary, came to congratulate the Schoenstatt Fathers. On 31st May the whole community gathered in India will celebrate this great event and to give its response - to crown our blessed Mother. |
