INTERNATIONAL, mkf. Last Thursday, October 9th, the novena of preparation for another October 18th began, to celebrate and to express gratitude for the 94 years of the living presence and work of the Mother Thrice Admirable Queen and Victress of Schoenstatt in the Original Shrine, and from here, almost 200 Shrines and countless wayside shrines, chapels and Homeshrines in the world.
It must be with a heavenly smile that the MTA accompanies her initiavtive which began at a wayside shrine of Caracas, Venezuela, and which presently has spread through several news agencies, radio and televisión. One million children praying the rosary for peace (extra article) on October 18th at 9:00 a.m. A "side effect" is that the date of October 18th is mentioned by everyone.
The very large Hasenkamp-Parana Pilgrimage
The large pilgrimage from the wayside shrine of Hasenkamp to the Shrine of La Loma in Parana began with the walk of two youth who wanted to give the Blessed Mother something special on October 18th. Since then, they have had this pilgrimage on the weekend closest to October 18th; this year, the pilgrimage will arrive at the Shrine on October 18th. The trip unites Hasenkamp with Parana, a distance of 90 kilometers from the wayside shrine of Our Lady of Schoenstatt of Hasenkamp to the Shrine of La Loma.
This year the intiative will be carried out with the motto: With Mary, what we have seen and heard, we will announce. Each year a large number of faithful gathers to walk for almost a day and a night along with prayers and songs, led by a Picture of Our Lady of Schoenstatt. This year the organizers expect more than 20.000 pilgrims from all the towns of Entre Rioos, and also from Santa Fe, Corrientes and Cordoba. They will arrive at the Shrine at 6 and Monsignor Mario Bautista Maulion will ofíciate the Holy Mass.
Blessings of Shrines and wayside shrines
A festive heart! Big surprises! Faces filled with emotion, hands at work. This is how the Schoenstatt Family from Jacarezinho sees the calendar – when they have time- and when they see the date of October 18th! The reason is that on this day the Blessed Mother will take posession of her new throne of grace, the Shrine. Soon it will be her home! Only details are lacking so that the interior of the Shrine will be identical to the Original Shrine. In Schoenstatt. Father Celso ( diocesan priest) took a shingle from the Original Shrine when he came on pilgrimage with the peitition that the Shrine of Jacarezinho would be an extensión of this place of grace. This shingle was placed in the wall of the new place of grace.
During his last visit to Brazil, Pope Benedict XVI blessed the picture of the MTA for this Shrine.
To send greetings or congratulations:
On the same day a new shrine will be blessed in San Antonio, Texas USA. Archbishop Jose H. Gomez, of San Antonio will preside the blessing.
At Barranqueras, in the province of Chaco, Argentina, a long awaited wayside shrine of laborers will be blessed, as a fruit of the desire and effort of all the community that has received the visit of the Schoenstatt Pilgrim MTA for several years in their homes and work places, through the missionaries of the Rosary Campaign. Last Tuesday October 7th ,the blessing and the laying of the cornerstone was held at the place where the "Wayside Shrine of Laborers" will be built. Father Bienvenido from the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception blessed the cornerstone in the presence of city officials, missionaries, and neighbors of the place.
It is imposible to mention all the Shrines that will have anniversaries of blessing on October 18th! The 40th Anniversary of the Shrine of Villa Waracalde, Cordoba Argentina will be celebrated with a large celebration. All the family joyfully prepared for this celebration which will culminate with a living Rosary, a balloon relaease and a Holy Mass presided by Monsignor Nanez, Archbishop of Cordoba.
It is imposible to mention all the celebrations which will take place at the Shrines – thinking about only the large pilgrimages on this day to Tuparenda, to Queretaro – on the wayside shrines, the parishes. The enthusiasm with which many parishes in Italy will celebrate October 18th is amazing.
All of this for HER mission
What a day to become even more committed with the Blessed Mother and her mission! On October 18th at 11:00 a.m. (in Chile) four deacons of the of Schoenstatt Fathers will be ordained by Monsignor Andres Arteaga Marieu at the Shrine of Bella Vista. They are: Facundo Bernabei Carcar, Enrique Javier de Fonseca Puentes, Federico Pierabuena and Enrique Jose Grez Lopez. In Rome the second Strengthening of Marriages will take place; In Croatia the Rosary Campaign will have a celebration.
Welcome to the Original Shrine
Everything and everyone will be united to the Original Shrine on this day, the place where everything was born! Everyone was invited to bring the jars from, their Schoenstatt Shrines, and to take them in procesión to the Original Shrine for the renewal of the Covenant of Love in the afternoon. The jars are a symbol of the stream of life and of grace that flows from the Original Shrine and returns to its source.
October 18th is the feast of feasts for every Schoenstatter. What a privilege to celebrate this day at the Original Shrine. Dominique, a sixteen year old from Chile, an exchange student in northern Germany, will try her best to be in Schoenstatt on this day, to live "this experience that will remain in her heart for the rest of her life".
Welcome everyone to the Original Shrine!
