INTERNATIONAL, mfk. What happens when in a globalized world a current of suspicion sweeps the markets, the world is experiencing these days – with dramatic consequences. What happens when a simple idea "globalizes" and becomes a current, can also be experienced simultaneously. A moment of graces in the wayside shrine of the Mother Thrice Admirable during the praying of the rosary by children craeted an idea that was so simple that anyone could do it. Instruments whose hearts are on fire and who have made this idea their own, much prayer and confidence (and a lot of hard work to move a few mountains): these are the ingredients going into A Million Children praying the Rosary on the 18th of October at 9:00 a.m. in each country all over the world.

"We are sending the last packages," reads an email sent by one of these instruments to the editor of a news agency. "These packages are for the Diocese of New Siberia and the North Diocese, very near to the North Pole. Although it seems hard to believe, there will be children praying on the 18th of October in these time zones. I have confirmation that the Claretines will be working with the children in these zones…" From Monterrey, Mexico, another instrument shares: "We are finishing distributing the leaflets, we just have a few left at present, since we have many helping hands, the Blessed Mother is allowing us to reach many families. Last week, I also was at a hospital. I spoke with a religious who does pastoral service there, and he was delighted, he said he received an email about the campaign and now here I was issuing him a personal invitation. I left a poster and brochures with him; he told me he was going to put them in the chapel and request prayers for this event. We are also inviting Catholic schools run by the most different groups - Schoenstatt, Opus Dei, the Legionaires, Marists… In some places we left brochures for each family, but in others, since we were running out of material, we left at least one per teacher, so the teacher could issue the invitation to their students…"

"Mary needs our hands to help all the children who live in Argentina, it is a great gift to her, to pray the Holy Rosary along with the children from other countries. It is incredible how Mary helps me in approaching people about this, with a great desire to take part in the distribution of this enormous gift for her… What a very grand gift for the Holy Virgin Mary and her little child, Jesus, to receive from children praying the Holy Rosary from all over the world, all together, begging for unity and peace," Grace Alais de Baldizzone, a young mother of two from Buenos Aires, writes this. For weeks, she has been doing almost nothing else than writing letters, getting printing cost estimates, calling bishops on the telephone, Movements, and news outlets. Why? It is her enthusiasm for this initiative, in which the National Council of the Venezuelan Laity for the fourth time have called for children from all over their country and the world to join in praying the Rosary for the interior peace of every human being, as well as the peace and unity of the family in the country and the world this October 18th at 9:00 a.m. wherever they might be at that time.

"Thinking that maybe peace in this world depends on this, really depends on the prayer of the rosary of one million children…"

There are various organizations, movements, and institutions that have made this their own, this initiative that was born four years ago in a humble wayside shrine of Schoenstatt’s Mother Thrice Admirable in Caracas, Venezuela: the National Council of the Laity of Venezuela, the National Council of Paraguay, the Episcopal Conference of Nicaragua, Kirche in Not, Diocesan Priests of Kenya, Mother’s Groups from Bolivia, the Schoenstatt Fathers in Nigeria, Catechists from the area of the "Three Frontiers"( Brasil, Argentina, Paraguay) Missionaries for Infants in Cuba, Militancy of Puerto Montt, Chile, Missionaries in Egypt, AICA in Argentina, the Catholic Taxi drivers of Buenos Aires, Radio Paz in Miami, Polish speaking missionaries of the Rosary Campaign in Germany….

But especially there are people like Maria Rosa Alemandi of Rafaela, Argentina, motivated by a single idea: "Thinking that peace in the world maybe depends, really does depend on this, I will do whatever I can even if it kills me?" Grace continued: "Yesterday I received the brochures and posters in Confidentia. They were spectacular! They were as good as what they sent me from Germany. From everything they gave me, I separated between Confidentia and AICA; it was like having two centers of distribution. All this happened at 17:00 hrs. I remained at Confidentia because with AICA at this hour there would not have been much to do. What happened at Confidentia? In a few words, it was a total success, thanks to an email sent yesterday morning, a few people who were traveling to the interior were approached, and they offered to take the posters and brochures. I asked them also to help me to campaign en route: HOW? By putting up small posters in the car, so that people could find out what was going on in the world next Saturday. It seemed a brilliant idea to them. Also like I didn’t want the posters and brochures remaining in Confidentia without being distributed over the weekend, so I asked the Schoenstatt Girl’s and Boy’s Youth that they should think about and get organized to help us out with this: HOW? WHAT DID THEY HAVE TO DO?

It’s easy, put up posters in parishes, in hospitals, schools, shopping centers,

super markets, or any place that they thought people would see this news. In addition to that, I also gave them brochures to give out to children at the Mass on Sunday…"

Let the children sing, and lift their voices

Posters and pamphlets of the campaign were distributed, thanks to Kirche in Not in Spanish, German, English, Italian, French, Czech, Russian, Polish, Guarani, Arabic, Swahili, etc.

From the beginning at this wayside shrine in Caracas, it was decided to work together with various movements, the lay councils, the bishops, and parishes, with schools, and kindergartens…..

"Let the children sing, and lift their voices, let them make the world listen, and join their voices and go to the sun, because… the truth is in them. Let the children sing, who live in peace and those who suffer pain, Let them sing for those who cannot sing, because their voices have been extinguished…"

The song by José Luis Perales comes to the minds of many of those who are working untiringly so that on this 18th of October a million children can say the Rosary at 9:00 in the morning. "I sing so that mother smiles, " José Luis Perales’ song continues. I pray so that Mother smiles… Certainly, the Mother of all the children of God will smile all day this October 18th. Especially to see that at 9:00 in the morning on the 18th of October, children praying the Rosary for the peace…. in the Original Shrine at Schoenstatt! In Polish.
