BRAZIL, Victor Hugo Niczay, André Luís Peres, Rodrigo de Barros Ishiy. On 18 October 2008, the Tabor Schoenstatt Foundation Shrine in Brazil was inaugurated. For the first time, the inauguration of a Shrine could be accompanied online thanks to Victor Hugo, André Rodrigo and various members of the Boys Youth (Jumas) who made it possible for everyone to participate by transmitting minute-by-minute news and photos on the maeperegrina.com.br website.

At this moment, we are at the inauguration of the Jacarézinho Shrine.

10h20 – The pilgrimage to the Shrine begins with the Rosary. The priests, bishop and the people are enthusiastic and excited by this wonderful celebration.

10h30 – The first step is the blessing of the keys to the Shrine by Bishop Fernando. These are handed to the engineer responsible for building this Shrine, who together with his wife, have the honour of opening the door.

10h40 – Now that the Shrine is open, it is the turn of our Mother Thrice Admirable of Schoenstatt to make a solemn entrance and join this celebration. She is led by the couples who were responsible for the construction team of this Shrine and their path is cleared by children carrying 12 bricks with the names of the 12 Sisters of Mary who arrived in Jacarézinho and brought Schoenstatt to Brazil.

Next, the tabernacle will be blessed.

11h15 – The gospel is being read.

10h45 – Bishop Fernando is now blessing this Shrine with the four crosses that were blessed in Schoenstatt and received graces from the Mother Shrine. The Bishop sprinkles holy water on those present.

10h55 – Bishop Fernando is blessing the MTA picture for the Shrine.

11h05 – The altar is being incensed by Bishop Fernando and the smell of incense fills the Jacarézinho Shrine for the first time.

11h10 – Now that the Shrine has been blessed, everybody is clapping and praising God for all of the deeds that Mother of God has accomplished in this place.

Mary teaches us how to live because she is our Mother and Educator.

11h20 – In his homily, Bishop Fernando speaks about the power of the Holy Spirit inside the Shrine and inside of each person who finds the Shrine. He asks everyone to open their hearts so that Mary and Jesus can live more intensely in each of their hearts. Mary teaches us how to live because she is our Mother and Educator.

11h25 – The homily comes to an end and everyone recites the Creed.

11h30 – The liturgy of the Eucharist begins with an offering to our Heavenly Father, through Mary’s hands, of all our efforts, joys and sufferings in the physical and spiritual strivings towards this new Shrine.

11H45 – The Eucharistic table is prepared as the offerings are placed on the altar.

11h47 – During the Eucharistic Prayer, we remember the 12 Sisters of Mary who arrived in Jacarézinho in 1935 as missionaries, bringing Schoenstatt to Brazil.

11h55 – It is time for Communion. The ministers and concelebrating priests distribute communion and each person present becomes a living shrine.

12h00 – As Mass draws to an end, the presence of the pilgrims around the shrine is particularly touching. They have come from all around Brazil and Germany and they show the extent of their devotion by remaining peaceful despite the strong sun and heat that can be felt right now in Jacarézinho.

12h05 – As the people receive communion, those who are at home are also invited to receive Jesus spiritually in their hearts and, together with us, give thanks for yet another throne of grace belonging to our Mother and Queen in our country.

12h20 – We give thanks to Jesus who, together with his Mother, has made a home in this new Shrine. From this moment on, she is here with all her graces to shelter, transform and send out each disciple and missionary.

The MTA is solemnly placed inside the Shrine

12h30 – The MTA picture is solemnly taken into the Shrine. The image, which was blessed by Pope Benedict XVI, is handed from one priest to another and then Bishop Fernando solemnly takes her to her resting place, her throne, from which she will reign here in Jacarézinho.

12h35 – Just before his Mother’s entry, Jesus is taken to the tabernacle. In this way, Christ and Mary are united in this Shrine, transforming it into a new Tabor on Brazilian soil.

12h42 – On behalf of the Schoenstatt Family, Sr. Luiz Lomba thanks Bishop Conrado and Bishop Fernando as well as the Sisters of Mary who have taken responsibility for the Shrine. Those who made this moment possible are also thanked, together with everybody who contributed so that from now on, this Shrine will be a place of grace for the entire diocese and further afield. In this way, the MTA will take Jesus as a light into the lives of each person here present.

I pray that this shrine may be a blessing for all, specially the diocese of Jacarézinho, that from Jacarézinho a light may shine for Brazil.

12h45 – Bishop Getulio from Cornélio Procópio now gives his message. He says that Mary knew how to receive grace from the Holy Spirit. She is at the same time the daughter of God and the Mother of God. If we look at her, we see that she was able to give her life for her Son, Jesus. She gave him to us.

12h55 – Fr. Alexandre, the Paraná regional director, takes the microphone and expresses his gratitude by calling everyone to applaud the Mother and Queen of our Schoenstatt Family. Everyone gives an emotion-filled round of applause.

13h00 – The Eucharistic celebration comes to a close with the inauguration of yet another Shrine. With great emotion, many people begin to enter the Shrine. They are the first sons that the Mother of God welcomes in this place.

The afternoon program included musical presentations beginning at 14h00 and ended with a blessing in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament.
