SCHOENSTATT, mkf. On Monday, September 15th, throughout the world the Schoenstatt Movement will recall the anniversary of the death of Father Kentenich, forty years ago. In Chile, there will be Mass in commemoration of this event in all the cathedrals of the country; in Schoenstatt, as every year, a Holy Mass will be celebrated for all the Schoenstatt Family at the hour of Father’s death, presided by Father Heinrich Walter, President of the General Presidency of the Schoenstatt Work. On the 14th, Monsignor Robert Zollitsch, Archbishop of Friburg and President of the German Episcopal Conference will preside at a Holy Mass in commemoration of Father Kentenich in the Pilgrim Church in Schoenstatt. On the same day there will be about 300 pilgrims from the Diocese of Osnabrueck, Germany in Schoenstatt, at least about 300 more pilgrims will come to celebrate "Father’s Day", and there will also be two large pilgrimages from Latin America, one from Chile, and another one from Argentina. Monsignor Zollitsch already sent the text for his homily so that it can be translated for the international pilgrims. The largest TV channel in Germany announced the arrival of a camera crew; a program will be prepared about Monsignor Zollitsch, with a special part about Schoenstatt and Father Kentenich. While the pilgrims enjoy a varied program with prayers at Father’s tomb and at the Original Shrine, presentations and workshops, members of the General and National Presidency will meet for an encounter with Monsignor Zollitsch. There will Masses in commemoration of Father Kentenich on September 15th at many cathedrals as well as at Shrines in many countries. Rosary in the Original ShrineMaria Rosa Alemanda, a missionary of the Campaign from Rafaela, Argentina, who arrived to Schoenstatt for a few days of pilgrimage, has already offered to guide the Rosary in Spanish, on Saturday at 5:30 at the Original Shrine – praying as always for all the world, for everything that is taking place in Schoenstatt, around the Shrines and wayside shrines, and for the petitions sent to Schoenstatt. On September 14th, the Congress of Mariology will conclude at Mount Moriah, Schoenstatt, where Schoenstatters from several countries have gathered since last Wednesday to deepen in aspects of Father Kentenich’s Mariology. Walk of solidarityThis Sunday, September 14th, the Dequeni Foundation invites everyone to participate in the 12th Walk of Solidarity: "For a free education for the children of Paraguay". Free Education: is the opportunity that all the children from Paraguay deserve, to guarantee their incorporation, to stay in school and to progress in the educational system. Free Education: is free for the families, quality for the children and a commitment for everyone. The departure is planned for 10:00 a.m. from five points of departure in Asunción, Luque and Fernando de la Mora. The point of encounter for the participants is the Nu Guazu Park where there will be a specially prepared program, a food court, a children’s park and all the necessary services. In Argentina, the third "Schoenstatt Social" conference will take place this same weekend. Anniversaries of ShrinesSeptember 12th is the Anniversary of five Shrines: Cambrai, Trier, Swider (Poland), Waldstetten (Germany) and Iquique (Chile. On the same day a novena will begin for the anniversary of the Youth Shrine in Asunción, Paraguay. There will be Adoration and Holy Mass daily until Saturday concluding with a vigil on September 20th and a celebration on September 21st. The Holy Father in LourdesParis and Lourdes are preparing to welcome Benedict XVI this weekend; he will meet with 200,000 people in the esplanade of The Invalids at the French capital. This first trip of the Pope will be an opportunity to make the personality of the Pope known in France, where his predecessor, John Paul II, earned the sympathy and admiration of great sectors of the population. This will be Benedict XVI’s first visit to France, which will begin next Friday in Paris with a meeting with the French Chief of State, Nicolas Sarkozy, at the Champs Elysees and it will conclude on the 15th at the Shrine of Lourdes, which is celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the Apparitions of the Blessed Mother to Bernardette Soubirous. |
