ARGENTINA, Mary and Osvaldo Banille/MKF. On the 10th of September, at the age of 59, Carlos Nesa went Home to the Father. Those who knew him, remember him as an excellent person. He was a great leader in Schoenstatt, the Church and society. He was an excellent father and husband, and he had a profound love for the Blessed Mother and our Father and Founder.

He was a lawyer and a member of the teaching staff on the law school faculty. He married in 1973 and was the father of five children. Since 2005, he and his wife, Charito, were areal leaders of the Family Federation in Argentina. At the Constitutional Chapter of the International Family Federation, they presented their personal "Schoenstatt history": "Since our youth, we participated in different Church organizations. When we married, we were invited to participate in a group from the Schoenstatt Family League, and there we met Schoenstatt. We entered the group in 1974. With that group in the Family Work, we sealed our Covenant of Love with the Blessed Mother on August 8, 1983. As members of the League, we were elected Branch Leaders on two occasions: 84-85 and 86-87. Because of that, we participated on the Family of Providence Diocesan Council in Paraná and had the opportunity to attend numerous events for Leaders in Florencio Varela.

We entered the Family Federation in 1990 and began our candidacy in course 11. We were course leaders, course leaders of the Official Community (for three terms), and leaders of the Vinculos Region (which is formed by groups who belong to the cities of Paraná, Rosario and Córdoba). This made it possible for us to participate in two meetings of the broader National Council.

We participated in the first meeting of Delegates when the Family Federation of Argentina was on its way to autonomy. We also participated in two latter Chapters. It was a true milestone in 1999 when the Territorial Family Federation of Argentina was constituted as such….."

In 2005, along with his dear wife, Charito, they represented Argentina at the Constitutional Chapter of the International Family Federation. Subsequently on January 20, 2005, and with representatives from other countries, he had the good fortune of participating in a private audience and received the blessing from John Paul II. Upon returning from this mission, they were elected Territorial Leaders of the Family Federation in Argentina. In that leadership task, they demonstrated their paternal aspect for the community. They gave all of their time to this task and with heartfelt attention, they saw to each family. They were a bridge of unity with the leadership of other Schoenstatt communities. They led the Federation with wisdom and dedication. They traveled and stayed in each corner of our extensive country in order to experience first-hand each course in each region.

In the prime of his life

Nevertheless, in the prime of his life, Jesus invited him to share with Him His way of the cross and His Golgotha. A hard illness – cancer of the larynx – submerged him into a painful treatment which he withstood in silence and with deep surrender and disposition. Toward the end he could no longer speak. Charito never left his side, just like Mary at the foot of the Cross. Everyone knew the matter was grave…..but the news of his death was a painful surprise when he died in the early morning of September l0th. Someone called the Press Office very early and left the message on the answering machine. This made it possible that early on, prayers for him and his family took place at the place of Grace which he greatly loved.

The entire Schoenstatt family in Argentina feels painfully the absence of Carlos, but our faith tells us that he is with the Father, enjoying the vision and company of Jesus, Mary and our Father and Founder.

"Our Nazareth, a Shrine for everyone" is the name of the Nesa family Home Shrine. "To discover the will of the Father and to faithfully follow Him," is how they expressed their desires for the future in 2005. "To always be at the disposal of the mission (as is expressed in their course ideal), in the Schoenstatt Work, the Church and society…..to be family and to build family wherever we are called, deeply rooted in the Blessed Mother and the Graces from the Shrine."

"A thinker who knew how to dispute and to discern, a person who did not insist on his own opinion and who knew how to listen," this is how he is remembered by Josef and Rosa María Wieland, area leaders of the Family Federation in Germany….."joyful and simple, he loved the Father."

Now he is rooted more than ever into the heart of the Blessed Mother who surely awaited him with open arms and in Father he will surely continue with his mission…..
