ROME, Francisco Nuño, The Schoenstatt Family of Rome, along with friends and pilgrims from the neighboring Belmonte parishes, gathered on Monday afternoon, September 15th, at the Matri Ecclesiae Shrine to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the death of their Founder, Father Joseph Kentenich, with a Holy Mass. Cardinal Claudio Hummes, Prefect of the Congregation of the Clergy, presided at the Eucharistic celebration. Several priests also concelebrated, among them the pastor of the Santa Gemma Church and Father Ludovico Tedeschi of the Schoenstatt Fathers. In the homily, Cardinal Hummes stressed the charism of the Founder of Schoenstatt, and he extended his gratitude to his spiritual family for their collaboration in the new evangelization. He also encouraged everyone present to live the faith in an active way, as true missionaries by taking Christ to today’s world. Finally he asked prayers for all the priests and for new vocations. After the Mass, everyone gathered in the Covenant House to share refreshments and to recall the Fortieth Anniversary of Father’s departure and Cardinal Hummes’ Fiftieth Priestly Anniversary. It was a very blessed day for the Schoenstatt Family in Rome. When the last guests left the Covenant House, a torrential rain fell on the Shrine and its surroundings that reminded us of the abundant graces of the "crystalline source" that surges from the Shrine for the entire universal Church. |
