CHILE, Sister M. Ivonne. "A Schoenstatt Family present in each diocese of the country can unite forces and obtain it!" This is a phrase that is mobilizing the Schoenstatt Family from Chile at the national level in preparation for the commemoration of the 40th Anniversary of Father Kentenich’s death: Wouldn’t it be possible to have a Holy Mass in commemoration of Fr Kentenich celebrated in each cathedral in Chile, on September 15th? The answer came quickly… yes, it would. A date is soon approaching, which will give the opportunity to recognize as an ecclesial community and as the Schoenstatt Movement what God gave the Church of Vatican Council II through the person and the charism of Father Kentenich. On September 15, forty years ago, he was called home to the Father. He died on a Sunday morning, after celebrating the Eucharist in the Church consecrated to the Holy Trinity on Mount Schoenstatt, in Vallendar, along the Rhine in Germany. On September 15, 40 years ago, he was called home to the Father. He died on a Sunday morning, after celebrating the Eucharist in the Church consecrated to the Holy Trinity on Mount Schoenstatt, in Vallendar, along the Rhine in Germany. Every great man is a letter from God for his timeRecalling this day, it is timely to remember the words that the Auxiliary Bishop of Muenster, Heinrich Tenhumberg said during Father Kentenich’s funeral: "Every great man is a letter from God for his time, it is message for us. Saint Paul wrote: ‘Are we beginning to commend ourselves again? Or do we need, as some do, letters of recommendation to you or from you? You are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by all, shown to be a letter of Christ administered by us, written not in ink, but by the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone, but on tablets that are hearts of flesh.’ " (2 Cor.3:1-3) The life of our Father and Founder is our letter from God. His book of life is our book from God. We cannot read each line and each page of this book now, but we should consider the three main chapters. What are the most important three chapters of his gift to the Church according to Monsignor Tenhumberg?
To celebrate the 40th Anniversary in communion with the local ChurchIt is the 40th Anniversary of his death, isn’t it urgent that the People of God recognize his charism? Shouldn’t we implore his intercession and feel that he was a gift for the life of the Church at this time? We had the idea to celebrate this 40th Anniversary in communion with the local Church during a Eucharist on September 15th. The response from the entire national Movement has been very beautiful, and the response from the bishops throughout Chile was even more beautiful. In many cities, the bishop of a diocese has committed to be present to celebrate the Eucharist on September 15th in their diocesan cathedral. Church in Chile has filled the Schoenstatt Family with happiness, since it can simply be considered as an acknowledgement of the person our Father and Founder’s and his charism. Furthermore, it is a recognition of the Schoenstatt Movement, which is present in all the dioceses of the country, and for its great apostolic participation in local parishes such as: in catechesis, the positions of trust the bishops have bestowed on them, and the participation in different pastoral and diocesan areas, etc. We are promoting a massive participation among the Movement: Friends of Father, those close to Schoenstatt, the anonymous collaborators from the different Schoenstatt social works in Chile, from the different ecclesial movements, and of all the pilgrims in general. We want to make this a moment of a great encounter for the Family around Father and a living expression of "Dilexit Ecclesiam," which was the epitaph he wanted and received on his tomb. A great expression of gratitudeAfter citing Saint Paul in his homily Monsignor Tenhumberg concluded: "What the Church will say in the future about our Father will be decided in our lifetime, we are that letter from God that he wanted to write on hearts so that the world would believe. Let us prepare this celebration with time. Let us encourage our friends, the groups, those who have received his intercession, and those who have been visited by the Pilgrim MTA. The motivational letter states that: ‘If we mobilize a large number of people, including those who barely know Schoenstatt it will be a great expression of gratitude, because Father is for everyone, and it is an opportunity for him to approach many people.’" The posters are already being distributed throughout the country… "What the Church will say in the future about our Father will be decided in our lifetime."
