SCHOENSTATT, mkf. The catastrophe that occurred on August 20th at the airport in Madrid, where 153 died, touched everyone … Meanwhile the 19 survivors who are seriously wounded struggle for their life and many people cry for the death of their parents, sons, friends; on Saturday afternoon all the sorrow, the impotence before such suffering will be taken to Mary and her Son we will pray the international Rosary once more in the Original Shrine. We will pray for the victims of Spain, Bulgaria, Sweden, Italy, Germany, France, Brazil, Mauritius, Turkey, Gambia, Indonesia, and their families. It is good to know … that the rosary will be prayed at the usual time or a little later, depending on the program of "Night at the Shrine" which will take place in Schoenstatt on this day. On Friday night, about 350 youth from Germany, Croatia, Poland and perhaps other countries will gather around the Original Shrine for a varied program of panels, workshops, Masses, adoration and sharing that will end with a procession to the Original Shrine, where the Covenant of Love will be renewed for the youth of the entire world. On August 22nd, the third Youth Vigil will be held in the Shrine of Brig, Valais as an initiative of the Schoenstatt Youth and the Youth of the Charismatic Renewal; meanwhile, youth from five Movements join in sponsoring this prayer night at the Schoenstatt Shrine. Queen of Peace and Unity for a Family NationThe Schoenstatt Movement will renew the Crowing of the Blessed Mother in the Schoenstatt Shrine in Puntilla on Sunday, August 24, 2008, honoring the Blessed Mother as "Queen of Peace and Unity for a Family Nation". The event will begin at 2:00 p.m. with a pilgrimage from the Church of Carrodilla to the Shrine of Puntilla. It will conclude with the Eucharistic celebration at 4:00 p.m. presided by the Archbishop of Mendoza, Monsignor José Maria Arancibia. This act which is renewed year after year is a gesture in which we recognize our task before the enormous and difficult mission that we face in the world today; we assume the role of the family as transcendental in building the Kingdom. We pray that She will take the reins of history and irrupt into the lives of everyone with strength and that She will help the families in their struggle for the ideals of the Kingdom of Jesus, where Mary is Queen. With her power she can work the miracle for which She is crowned. On August 22nd, the 5th Anniversary of the blessing of the wayside shrine at Rafaela, in the province of Santa Fe shrine located in the little forest of Besaccia will be celebrated. The wayside shrine is a place of prayer dedicated to Our Mother Thrice Admirable of Schoenstatt, and it is an extension of the daughter shrine, as a pastoral expression of Schoenstatt where the Holy Rosary, the One Thousand Hail Mary, the Stations of the Cross and the Stations of Light are prayed and every year there is a Consecration of the children to Mary. "Tour of Help 2008"On August 25th the "Tour of Help 2008" will conclude in Schoenstatt. A famous cyclist, Klaus Nattermann, makes a bicycle tour each year asking for donations for foundations or organizations which helps those in need in an efficient manner and without bureaucracy. This year he chose the "Sign of Light", an initiative of the Schoenstatt Movement for pregnant women in conflict. The arrival to Schoenstatt will be marked with large celebration and a fair of maternity clothes. The hidden yearsMany are already anxiously waiting: On August 28th, the Spanish version of the book: The hidden years, about the infancy and youth of Joseph Kentenich will be presented at Confidentia, Buenos Aires. The book was published one year ago in German, and it reveals details that were not known about the years in Gymnich, Strassburg, and Oberhausen. It is the fruit of intense study by the author, Sister Doria Schlickmann, who worked with several experts from different Schoenstatt communities, to write this book. Talking of Father Kentenich and the wish to get to know him better: a group of Schoenstatt Mothers from Germany will set out to Milwaukee come August 28, accompanied by Fr. Theo Breitinger and Sr. M. Caja Bernhard. It is the first time that the Schoenstatt Mothers' League of Germany organizes a pilgrimage to Milwaukee.
