BRAZIL, Sister M. Nilfza. The biblical phrase, "I have called you by name. You are mine."Is.43: 1, illuminated the night of June 20th, when the Schoenstatt Family from Vila Marian, San Pablo received a great gift from God in the Holy Mass: new priest, Father Afonso de Miranda Wosany Filho. Though faced with heavy traffic, Schoenstatters came from every corner of the city to participate in this celebration, to express gratitude for another Brazilian Schoenstatt Father, and to receive his blessing. Father Afonso presided over the celebration for the Family accompanied by four other Schoenstatt Fathers and four seminarians. In the homily he expressed the feeling that he was with family, so he would speak from the heart and of his joy of being a Schoenstatt Father. He explained his ideal and course symbol, becoming emotional when he remembered his course brothers in different countries who accompanied him in a very personal way. The course is comprised of eight priests; he is the only Brazilian. Father Afonso stressed that every priest should be the face of Christ for others. Jesus manifested himself through the face and priestly person of the Father and Founder. The world needs this face of Christ to be saved for God. He concluded by showing that in Father’s heart, there was a priest in the image of Christ, and a place for all the people in the world. Everyone needs to feel sheltered and loved by him in a very personal manner. One experienced how open Father Afonso’s heart was for this priestly gift when he gave his blessing to each of those present; he said something very personal. In front of the Shrine at the end of the service, the Blessed Mother had a happy and grateful family before her; a family that will accompany this new priest with their prayers, their love, and their gratitude.
