SCHOENSTATT,mfk. Was it because of their pilgrimage that strongly helped Portugal advance in the European Soccer Championship? Be that as it may, what is more certain is that this Wednesday a group of married couples from that country who came to Schoenstatt was nourished with "more faith, more peace, more confidence," after spending the days of their pilgrimage and retreat in the place of origin.
The large majority of them were first-timers to Schoenstatt who were fascinated with the "beauty and simplicity" of the place and the sanctity that was in the air as one of the men commented. They lodged in the Family House. They attended a Mass in the Original Shrine- for many the landmark of the pilgrimage, visited Father Kentenich’s tomb, and other "holy places" in Schoenstatt. Sunday, June 8th they spent the afternoon with some Chilean pilgrims who had recently arrived, also with pilgrims from various parts of Germany, and the German married couples participated in the Family Day Pilgrimage.
The visit to the pilgrim center to say hello to Sister Maria Nadia, who
spent several years in Portugal can’t be left out either. It was necessary to see her at work in her new job! That night the trip to the breweries famous in the region must be included as well… a good Schoenstattish application of the supernatural and the natural!
The certainty of Schoenstatt’s and Father Kentenich’s special charism
"I take my spiritual daily order with me to help me understand and put to practice the will of God for my life." commented Pedro Mello. "I will return with the certainty that Schoenstatt and Father Kentenich has a special charism and that I can take part of this
charism and contribute for the spiritual renewal of Europe from Portugal."
