PARAGUAY, Nadia Villalba. "During the month of July – like every year- we will go to the family missions", commented Rosa Ruiz Diaz, a lawyer, who lives in Asunción. Some students have just returned from the University Missions 2008 and they are already planning the next one. For many youth and families to go on mission has become a part of their life as Schoenstatters, as Christians, as persons, as missionary disciples. They discovered their personal vocation in the service to the most needy; they have made friendships, they have experienced self evangelization in the most profound part of their hearts, they have fallen in love forever with the Pilgrim MTA, whom they take to the homes…A few days ago a friend told me: ‘To think that there are many youth that do not know about this", referring to the experience of community service, to the meaning of the word commitment, it is a (body) language of smiles and hopeful looks that we discovered at the beginning of this happy road of becoming disciples and missionaries of Christ".

Life is like a puzzle, each piece is a reminder of what we are building; the difficulties, the victories, the failures. The large Family of Catholic University Missions is just a small part, but immense in meaning. It is a family that taught me so many things and that continues to encourage me to be different and to walk for what is truly worthwhile, giving my all to discover this language of love that is the channel for the missionary.

The Mission is lived each day, with love, simplicity, responsibility and strength.

Following the example of Mary, our first missionary, Who, after recognizing that "she was nothing nor no one", She said Yes to the call of the Lord. It was selfless, unconditional Yes. She launched into an unknown world in spite of the "very complicated" consequences of her time, culture and thousands of factors. She gave birth, accompanied by Joseph, her persevering and loyal companion, to such a small and defenseless baby in such a poor place, in the company of the most humble, but those with immense hearts. A baby who then, like us, grew with doubts and dreams, who was, is and will be our great example as a missionary, the greatest servant and seeker of peace and justice.

Jesus taught us that "another world is possible" and those who excluded, the poor and "those who are nobodies" will inherit the kingdom of heaven. He, who faced the powerful and who tenderly played with the children, that same Jesus, that God who is with us, convokes us once again, he chooses us every minute, in spite of our limitations to "become more in order to serve better".

To be a university missionary is not easy, it means living each day of the mission entrusted with simplicity, making the greatest effort, taking responsibility to accomplish the tasks…and above all it means to give testimony of God’s love within the context of apathy, individualism, an excess of information and invitations to "go with the flow", to be indifferent to the reality that our nation is facing. Not withstanding, the constant messages, the experiences we have had demonstrate how small we are in this world and that "what good is it to gain the whole world if we lose ourselves". It is for this reason that I thank God for calling me to this "special team" that he has chosen, for encouraging me to continue building different realities and to share the joy of living, breathing, dreaming, and growing with the people, and to grow in this young discipleship that is full of hope.
