BURUNDI, Father Deogratias Marukiro, On May 27th an article appeared on the schoenstatt.de web page about the pilgrimage for peace at Kamenge that took place on May 18th; the Schoenstatt Family from Burundi can now express their gratitude for some precious fruits of this pilgrimage.

On May 22nd, at Holy Mass for the Feast of Corpus Chrisit, the Apostolic Nuncio – who had solemnly sent the Auxiliary MTA for its peace mission on December 8, 2007 – visited Mount Zion Gikungu. On Monday, May 26th, a week after the pilgrimage, there was an agreement between the government and the rebel, Palipehutu Movement, to accomplish the cessation of hostilities. The leader of the rebels will go to Bujumbura on May 30th. This is a very large step towards peace.

The same day a Holy Mass was celebrated in thanksgiving.

Towards Tanzania and Rwanda

There was to be a pilgrimage on Sunday, June 1st to close the month of Mary. All the Movements participated with the Bishop. Holy Mass, the highlight of the pilgrimage, was celebrated in thanksgiving for what had been accomplished. Just as for each year, there was to be a march starting from a point two kilometers from Mount Zion with many youth, and of course it will include the Auxiliary MTA.

From June 2nd to June 9th, the International Auxiliary MTA will be on pilgrimage through Tanzania in the Isingiro Shrine. Then on June 21st & 22nd, it will go to the center of the country, to the Archdiocese of Gitega. At the beginning of July from the 4th to 6th, the Auxiliary MTA will go on pilgrimage through the Republic of Rwanda. It will pass through Kibeho, a place where the Blessed Mother has appeared, and it will continue to the Diocese of Butare. The Bishop Butare wrote that they are eagerly waiting for this event.

We ask for prayers and contributions to the Capital of Grace for all of these pilgrimages.
