SCHOENSTATT, mkf. "Thank you for helping us connect with the Original Shrine," writes Ernesto Cortés on April 28th from Concepción, Chile, after seeing on the Internet the video of the Rosary on April 26th in the Original Shrine. He was present that day, along with other Chileans who were visiting in Schoenstatt. One of the pilgrims works at the same university where he works in Concepción…..but they had to come to Schoenstatt to meet! On that sunny day, while some of the children were able to play in the park near the Original Shrine, the Chileans were able to enjoy the usual tour of Schoenstatt in Spanish. At the same time, Mónica Aguilar Suzán’s mother and sister were leaving for México after visiting their daughter and brother for a few days. Due to health reasons, Mónica has remained in Schoenstatt for a few months. It was their first visit to Schoenstatt and they were leaving with many beautiful impressions – in addition to receiving the book "Héroes del Fuego" (New Vision and Life, Fr. Joanthan Niehaus) on the foundation of Schoenstatt. In House Marienland, a meeting of retired professional women was taking place and on the same day a meeting of those responsible for the Schoenstatt Shrines in Germany was being concluded. Also taking place was a meeting of the Presidium for the Schoenstatt Movement in Germany. In House Sonnenau there was a group of families from a parish in Siegburg in the Diocese of Cologne. A group of scouts was also present. The day before, in House Marienau, a meeting of Catholic women who do pastoral work in the armed forces of the USA and Europe had taken place. On Saturday, a pilgrimage from Valais, Switzerland had arrived. They were accompanied by Sister Joseline and Father Christoph Horn. United with the whole worldAt 5:30 P.M., the pilgrims from Chile arrived at the Original Shrine to participate in the Rosary where – as usual – they pray for all of the activities which take place at the Original Shrine and all Shrines and Wayside Shrines throughout the world. They also prayed for the beginning of the Rosary Campaign in Ciudad del Este, for the meeting of those in charge of the administration of the Schoenstatt Centers in Germany, and the opening of the month of May in Burundi. What a pleasant surprise it was to pray in the Original Shrine for the 25th Jubilee of María Ayuda (Mary Helps) in Concepción and with four pilgrims present from said city! As is the custom, they also prayed for all of the intentions sent via email to the Original Shrine by means of the Schoenstatt Press Office. They prayed especially for a young 14 year-old German boy who had disappeared a few days before from a home for boys. Less than 24 hours later, there was a call indicating that the boy had finally returned thanks to the solidarity of a driver who had recognized the boy and had taken him to a police station. While the Chilean pilgrims were praying the Rosary, a woman and a young man entered the Shrine. They sat down and the boy began to write something on a piece of paper which he later deposited into the jar; they prayed some Hail Mary’s along with the pilgrims and left silently…..accompanied by everyone’s prayers. "This Rosary is like spending time with the Blessed Mother in the Original Shrine," commented one of the Chileans, "to see those whom She sees and to help Her shelter them. What a gift and what an honor!" After going on pilgrimage to the Holy Land, Cecilia and Javier Elizalde from Salta, Argentina arrived in Schoenstatt on Sunday. It was their first visit to Schoenstatt where they had a profound experience with the MTA in the Original Shrine. On Tuesday, they continued their pilgrimage heading toward Rome.
