HUNGARY, Robert and Rita Gódány. The Hungarian Schoenstatt Family prepares for the blessing of the Education Center close to the first daughter Shrine inaugurated in Hungry on April 2, 2005. The Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Veszprém, Monsignor Dr. Gyula Márfi, had written this date on his agenda months ago and was happy to participate in this celebration with the Schoentatt Family once again. Archbishop Monsignor Robert Zollitsch,D. of Div., a member of the Diocesan Institute of Schoenstatt Diocesan Priests who was recently elected president of the German Episcopal Conference, will also attend. The Schoenstatt families, the Schoenstatt Youth, the Sisters of Mary, and all of the Hungarian Schoenstatt Family await this event with great emotion. They are attentive so that the Formation House will be finished by the inauguration date. Experts are working diligently on this project. Families also go to Óbudavár on the weekends to do specialized and general types of work. A quarter of a century of fruitful workMarch 2, 2008 marked the 25th year since the beginning of Father Tilmann Beller’s work in Hungary. It was a simple beginning that grew into a large Schoenstatt family, which is alive and growing. At that time in the year 1983 before the collapse of communism, he met with three Hungarian families at a house in the city of Veszprém. At that moment a growth began and the fruits can be seen today leading to the first Schoenstatt Shrine in Hungary. After twenty-five years, Father Beller completed his work in Hungary. The blessing of the new house is also the occasion in which the Schoenstatt Family will bid farewell to Father Tilmann Beller as Director of the Movement. Thanks to everyone who collaborated in the constructionWhat began then continues today. The new Movement House will serve this continuous development. The construction was in the most part –materially – sustained by the Hungarian Schoenstatt Family. The house is approximately 25m . by 7m. and it has a basement , a lower floor and a first floor. In total it has surface area of 400 m2. The families diligently make their deposits. Important donations are also received from the International Schoenstatt Family to whom we are heartily grateful. During the first days of April - and of course during the celebration – the Hungarian Schoenstatt Movement will have the opportunity to greet the new president of the German Episcopal Conference in Óbudavár. This visit demonstrates Archbishop Robert Zollitsch’s attachment with Hungary. Many years ago he participated with two Hungarian theology students in a theological conference led by Monsignor Dresbach, a permanent attachment was established with them as a result of this encounter. More than two hundred families already belong to the Hungarian Schoenstatt Family. New families continually gather especially in Budapest, Sopron, Pécs, and the area of Lake Balatón, where the Schoenstatt Center of Óbudavár and the Shrine are located. Last summer a Marriage Road was blessed here that has already attracted many visitors and pilgrims.
