GERMANY, Sr. M.Anika Lämmle. Gertrudes L was surprised by the fact that since 2006, the "Late Afternoon by a Different Beat" gatherings have taken place at the Libfrauenhöhe Schoenstatt Centre in Germany. She was looking for a spiritual home and a community to which she could belong. For this reason, she was glad to find an advertisement about these gatherings, held by the Women’s and Mothers’ Schoenstatt branches, in a newspaper and today skipped choir practice to attend. Following her initial admiration, she said that the gathering in the Shrine had "a good beat." Sr. Tonia Maria works at the Liebfrauenhöhe Schoenstatt Centre reception and already knows how to handle these gatherings. Bookings for the "Late Afternoon by a Different Beat" are made up until just before the start of the meeting. Should seventeen ladies sign up, there will definitely be more than twenty participants. At the last meeting in January there were twenty-seven ladies. Rosi O, an intern at the Liebfraunhöhe School, is not the only person to have participated for the first time at one of these gatherings. And Lena E. de Haigeiloch-Stetten became so enthusiastic that each time there is a meeting, she finds a new neighbour, friend or acquaintance to come along, something she does successfully. MasksThe theme for the latest gathering fits in very well with Carnival – masks. Once again, in keeping with the theme for the meeting, Hildegarda B who is one of the organizers for these gatherings, knew exactly how to create a central display in the meeting room which expressed a "different beat" in the shape of the Cross and Pilgrim Mother. She said that her collaboration is motivated by the need to "to transmit what I have already received through Schoenstatt – enthusiasm, community, the ability to live my faith freely and joyfully." The exchange of impression among the participants over the theme of this meeting took longer than usual. Lisa L had never understood that masks come easily in the roles that women and mothers play. She was not the only one to be surprised by the positive aspects which this theme explored: that covering and protecting are the essence of our human and feminine nature – each person is a mystery who is in need of shelter. Every mother, in one way or another, has to become a comedian for her children so as to transmit joy and trust, even if she is feeling very different inside. "This called us to reflect! I will meditate on this during the Carnival period!" With these and similar words, the participants said goodbye after their time of prayer in the Shrine. That is, "until next time!"
