Father Horacio was born in the city of Paraná (capital of the province of Entre Rios) on January 1, 1944. His family consisted of his parents Horacio and Mercedes and his sister, Rosa Maria.

His primary and secondary studies were taken at the School of the La Salle Brothers, where he earned the gold medal as the best student. After his secondary studies he became interested in social problems and he met some young political leaders. It was at this particular time of his life when he made the most important decisions, he learned about Schoenstatt, and he became a member of the second founding group of the Schoenstatt Boys’ Group in Paraná. The ideal of the group reveals much of what was wakened in his interior being during that time: Sagitae Patris.

In 1961 he decided on a priestly vocation and in 1962 he joined the Community of Catholic Apostolate, completing the novitiate in Chile and philosophical studies in Brazil. In 1966 he joined the recently founded Institute of Schoenstatt Fathers and he formed part of the founding group of students in Munster, Westphalia. He met Father Joseph Kentenich, the Founder of the Schoenstatt Apostolic Movement, at this time, and it was then that he became profoundly fascinated with his person and his message. If all the universe of Joseph Kentenich captured him, what attracted him above all was his pedagogy. The union of faith and life, the announcement of great values and ideals, and helping to bring it to life in people was constituted in his manner of being and of living. He was passionate for the truth; he rebelled when it seemed that the Founders message was distorted.

He was a member of the Verbum Patris, course of priests, assuming the ideal from way of being and he lived it passionately: he was deeply rooted in studying everything written by Father that came into his hands. As a member of the Sion Uniente Pater Gentium Generation and in Father Paul Vautier he found a natural complement to his restlessness. He was ordained a priest on September 16, 1972, in the cathedral of the city of Paraná.

He was licensed in Pastoral Theology at the University of Munster and later he obtained a doctorate at the Pontifical University of Salamanca. He carried out his apostolate in Paraguay and in Argentina; he presented many courses, retreats, and conferences. He dedicated long hours to spiritual direction. He wrote several books and many articles. During many years he was the National Advisor for the Mothers’ and Professionals Branches and of the Schoenstatt Girls’ Youth in Argentina. Many women grew through his guidance as a priest and educator! Two years ago he was chosen as the General Assistant of the Family Institute, this was his last work and joy.

He left us at a time of human and priestly fullness. A phrase that enkindled his soul was:

"This is why the Father loves me because I lay down my life in order to take it up again." (John 10:17)
