BRASIL, Valeria Da Cas. On December 13th the Legislative Assembly of Rio Grande do Sul offered a beautiful tribute to the pilgrim John Louis Pozzobon through the intiative of the State Deputy, Fabiano Pereira. More than forty people from Santa Maria and Sao Joao do Polesine were in the Capital to attend the tribute ceremony for John Pozzobon. Among those attending were the children and grandchildren of the Deacon along with many Schoenstatters from Porto Alegre who also attended. Many authorities were present including two state deputies who joined in the celebration: the representative from the Chamber of Councilmen from Santa Maria, Sr. Sergio Cechin; the Prefect of Faxinal do Soturno, Mr. Clovis Mantagner; the Prefect from Sao Joao do Polesine, Mrs. Valserina Gassen, and the Bishop representing the Diocesan Curia from Porto Alegre. According to Deputy Fabiano: "The tribute took place during the time of the Open Session, in which each deputy is given time to stress things that are of interest of the Gaucho and Brazilian society." A life dedicated to the Blessed Mother and to the poorIn his discourse Fabiano Pereira stressed the significant times in the life of John Louis Pozzobon of his entire lifespan, which was dedicated to the Blessed Mother and the poor. He stressed the untiring pilgrimage, his social work, and his incomparable character. Mr. Giuseppe Marramarco, who has been visiting the jails of Greater Porto Alegre for nineteen years with the Pilgrim MTA (identical to the Original), came to the ceremony carrying his Pilgrim MTA, which was placed at the side of the Tribunal of the Legislative Assembly. In part of his discourse, Deputy Fabiano Pereira affirmed: "John Pozzobon was a lay person, a father of a family, a servant of God. He was a man, who was born here in Rio Grande and he braved the world, sowing love of life and of the Blessed Mother with affection and respect for others."
