USA, Carlos Cantu. The Heavenly Father provided the participants of the Texas October Day in Lamar with a beautiful day. The sun was shining and the weather was just right. It was one of those days which puts a smile on the faces, but they especially smile because they are at home, at home with the Dear Blessed Mother and the Father and Founder. They are at home at one of the favored places where there is a Schoenstatt Shrine. Approximately 200 members of the Schoenstatt Family gathered at the Shrine to greet the Queen of Confidence in song. The opening prayer set the tone for the day:
The participants then heard a presentation on the new motto childlike confidence for our Shrine. Schoenstatt Father, Fr. Christian Christensen, highlighted various aspects of childlike confidence in the lives of the Blessed Mother and the Father and Founder. Fr. Christian also emphasized the importance of being open to God’s Providence and learning to entrust everything to God and Blessed Mother in childlike confidence. Honor guardFollowing this presentation, the participants celebrated the Eucharist. Schoenstatt Fathers Christian Christensen and Héctor Vega concelebrated the Mass. Fr. Héctor Vega delivered an impressive and thought-provoking homily stressing the importance of not forgetting our misery so that God and Blessed Mother do not forget their misery-laden children. This point was made especially clear through a short story he related: " a little girl had many beautiful dolls, and among them there was a broken and torn- up doll. When asked which was her favorite, she responded by holding up the torn and broken doll. When asked why she chose this doll, she responded that it was because this one needed her the most." The story conveyed a special message to all present. Following the homily and profession of faith, representatives from the various dioceses formed an honor guard. The Crown of Unity was brought up in solemn procession. This crown will someday adorn the Blessed Mother in the future Cor Unum in Patre Shrine and will begin a grand visitation throughout Texas in preparation for the dedication of the new Shrine. An impressive offertory procession presented many of the gifts for the future Shrine. Procession to the ShrineAfter a picnic-style lunch, all gathered to hear a presentation from Pilar Huerta of San Antonio. Pilar explained the history and all that has led up to the dedication of the future Shrine…..the trials, the ups and downs, and the many blessings which are all contributions for the future Cor Unum in Patre Shrine. Fr. Christian then gave an inspiring presentation on Joseph Engling and how he lived childlike confidence up to the end of his life. All then went in solemn procession to the Confidentia Shrine. Leading the procession were the Unity Crown and the diocesan representatives/ guardians, to whom the crown would be entrusted for the grand visitation throughout Texas. A proclamation was made in which all renewed their Covenant of Love and accepted anew the mission entrusted to them as Texas Schoenstatt Family. They also expressed their readiness to build the new Daughter Shrine as a gift of thanksgiving for the Golden Jubilee of the Confidentia Shrine. Before renewing the Covenant of Love, all received a stone from Mount Schoenstatt in San Antonio as a symbol of their working together for the dedication of the new Shrine. They then made an impressive loyalty ring around the Confidentia Shrine and the statue of the Father and Founder. In song, they renewed our Covenant of Love. A priestly blessing pronounced by Father Kentenich accompanied them home with joy in their hearts, and trusting with childlike confidence in ther Heavenly Father, the Blessed Mother, and the Father and Founder. |
