CHILE, Pablo Gaete. "All Schoenstatt strength comes from the Shrine and the point of departure and goal for all the deeds of her children is the Shrine." These words spoken by Father Kentenich to a couple in Milwaukee, summarized what November 18th and the Mother Thrice Admirable Queen’s twelve years of being in the Shrine of Mount Horeb meant for the Chillán Schoenstatt Family.
For the Schoenstatt Family it was a great celebration: the anniversary of the Shrine, the Founding Father’s birthday, Covenant Day, and furthermore, it was Sunday, the day of the Lord.
Vigilantly waiting for the great day
The night before the anniversary, the Chileán Schoenstatt Family held a night vigil in the Shrine close to God and the Blessed Mother. It was a joyous occasion. During the vigil they profoundly experienced the life of Father Kentenich, the origin of the Shrine’s name, and its history, step by step from the purchase of the land in 1986 to the blessing of the Mount Horeb Shrine in November of 1985.
A moving and emotional time of intense prayer and many songs, including I Tremble with Emotion, was a moment for reflection from the testimonies that were shared. A particularly powerful testimony concerned the Falcon Squadron of the Chilean Air Force, which drew a large heart in the sky the day the Shrine was blessed.
The great day
The day arrived. A conference and report about the National Conference of Leaders held in Bellavista were presented. The presenters gave good explanations of the topics that were discussed.
Father Humberto Anwandter celebrated the Holy Mass. There was a great number of faithful including: pilgrims, members of the branches, and also the brothers from Linares. The Dawn Breakers Choir provided the music.
After Holy Mass they went in procession to the Shrine. The highlight occurred when seven allies of the Shrine sealed their Covenant of Love with the Queen in the presence of everyone. This was an emotional moment not just for them alone but for everyone present.
