ARGENTINA. A Mass of Thanksgiving was celebrated on Saturday, September 8th in the Church of God the Father in Florencio Varela, Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the founding of the Volunteers of Mary, of the Schoenstatt Apostolic Movement. The encounter gathered the volunteers from the 23 public hospitals that they visit throughout the country. This voluntary organization was founded by Mrs. Raquel Ochoa de Sáenz Valiente, in 1982. As a result of her attachment to the Shrine she had the desire to do something for the sick, offering them spiritual and material help. Supported by the Covenant of Love and with the blessing of Father Esteban Uriburu, she began with a small group in the Hospital of Gastroenterology in the city of Buenos Aires, and at the present time there are about 250 volunteers. On September 12, 2005, the name day of Mary, Raquel returned to the House of the Father, leaving an inheritance of her joy in service, her courage and her profound faith in Divine Providence. United to the Blessed Mother, the Volunteers of Mary want to continue with the charisma of its founder. Translation: Celina Garza, Harlingen, TX, USA |
