SWITZERLAND, Geneviéve Blanc/Sister M. Joseline Becchio. About one hundred adults, youth and children accepted the invitation to participate in the Celebration of Faith, held close to the Schoenstatt Shrine in Brig on March 24, 2007. Before the celebration, Sister M. Joseline Becchio posted a question on the Internet: "What makes your faith so beautiful for you?"

Here are some samples:

"Not only the love that we receive from others and that we give them; rather, it is also the love that we receive from God and the Blessed Mother that is the great source of love for us. The protective and loving hand of the Father and the motto "Nothing without you, nothing without us" give me a great degree of trust and of love that I am happy to live out in our faith. The more that we can experience the love of the good God, of the Blessed Mother and also of our neighbor, the more we will be able to return it to them. This is a wonderful circulation of love…"

"It can be experienced very well in daily life. It is not a faith for Sundays; rather it is faith that is lived every day. It is noticeable above all in Schoenstatt: here we receive much impetus and valuable advice about how to concretely live the faith…"

"The most beautiful thing for me is the practical faith in Divine Providence. God the Father guides me towards what is best for me. And I can always be sure that He is with me. He continuously sends me large or small signs of his profound love. These signs frequently cause me to smile and they help me to trust in Him….Even in the most difficult times…"

Celebration of the beauty of the faith

Father Horn presented a conference in which he spoke about the human desire to be happy. He told about a young man who, in spite of having everything, was sad; Fr. Horn contrasted this to Saint Clare, who left all her belongings, and who had to suffer much, but who radiated a great joy. Obviously the human heart desires something more than goods and riches: It wants to be loved and to love others to be truly happy.

The Eucharistic celebration was a celebration of the beauty of faith. The following day the newspaper read: "In this very superficial time in which we live, where there is criticism for the faith, it is valid to oppose it by showing the happiness derived by forming a concrete world from the strength and the beauty of faith.

After lunch, joy continued in a community dance outdoors.

Workshops about faith in daily life

The participants had the opportunity to participate in the following workshops:

My heart, your home. Prepared by two Schoenstatt Mothers: Man’s desire for shelter, love, security and true happiness is fully realized in the heart of God. With His strength we are also able to open our hearts, to be homes for those who surround us: the Church, the leaders, people and nations.

The family, the "hotbed" of life and of happiness, prepared and directed by two couples:

"The hotbed called FAMILY, was good for me in spite of my age (more than 70 years old). My deepest desire would be for many young families to listen and to take advantage of these opportunities". "In our family we can sow, plant, cultivate and allow growth."

Schoenstatt, a road to the Covenant that gives happiness, prepared by a Schoenstatt mother and a Schoenstatt Father. A lady said: "I became seriously ill while carrying out a commitment in Bolivia. It was necessary for me to go to Switzerland. How could I survive such a long trip? I trusted in Mary and during the check-in prayed that there would be a vacant seat beside me. There were three vacant seats during the trip".

To learn how to contemplate. Offered by a Schoenstatt Father in the Shrine.

The children and the youth were on the front row

Offered at the same time as the workshops, was a program for the children and the youth that offered a rich variety: songs in the Shrine, crafts, an interesting story, games and sports. Each year more children participate in the celebration. As the Founding Document states, in the Shrine the Blessed Mother attracts youthful hearts… This year the youth prepared the final celebration close to the Shrine. The children presented a brief pantomime and all the workshop leaders made a petition and thanked the Blessed Mother in the Shrine. Everything was accompanied with songs and guitar music.

And the results? For many, our times are stressful, others are always over extended, limits and weakness are taboos: something that cannot be allowed. For these situations, faith is THE opportunity: it is a faith that is not detached from reality, it builds a new world. It is valid for me to form my concrete world with the strength and the beauty of faith. This increases happiness. This gives me enthusiasm; it makes me and many other people happy.
