PERU, Queca Espinoza. "The XI National Journey of the Peruvian Schoenstatt Family was held in the Shrine in Lima, Peru on April 21-22nd, 2007 with the motto "With you, Queen, we walk with Father".

The encounter began with a Holy Mass celebrated by four priests: Father José Luis Correa, advisor for the Movement in Peru, Father Reinaldo Nann, advisor of the Movement in Trujillo, Father José Antonio Bohuytron also from Truillop, Peru, and Father José Arbulú, advisor of the Diocese of Callao, Lima.

Then they went to the Retreat House where the journey began with the triumphal entry of the Auxiliary MTA that arrived from Brazil, carried by Edith and Félix Chang, founders of the Movement in Peru. Followed by a Chilean couple, Susana and Ruperto , who have a long history within the Movement, who carried a picture of the Father and Founder that was sent by the Schoenstatt Family from Ecuador as a gift for the Shrine. The organizers of the Journey, the "Garden of Mary" Group of the Family Work in Lima, elated everyone with the song Hymn of the Journey.

Latin American Schoenstatt Disciples

A diocesan priest, Father Jaime Llamas was in charge of the first conference, "Discipleship". He spoke with depth and also with a warm touch of humor.

The second conference "Where are we walking" was presented by Father José Luis Correa. He made everyone eager to prepare themselves for the year 2014: the centennial of the founding of Schoenstatt.

The meals were shared in an atmosphere of fellowship. There were quiet times such as Adoration with the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament throughout the two days of the journey which was never left alone. The liturgy of the hours of Lauds and Vespers were prayed as a community.

There was an audiovisual presentation of two Latin American Schoenstatt disciples: Mario Hiriart and Joao Pozzobon.

Where angels dance…

An of course there had to be recreation, a "Night of Talent" was presented in which all the dioceses that were represented participated. There were typical dances such as the Marinera Norteña and the Huaylas de Huancayo; songs accompanied with guitar or a capella, poetry…The presentation of the organizers of the journey, the Garden of Mary Group received the most applause: They appeared as couples dressed like angels – complete with wings and a halo- carrying a candle and with soft and tender background music they placed their candles on the floor. Then there was a change: another melody began that even made these reserved little angels dance, it was so entertaining that they had to repeat the performance because of the strong applause and the shouts of encore.

They finished by singing "Happy Birthday" to everyone who had a birthday during those days, toasting with a glass of exquisite wine. That is how the program ended on Saturday night.

The journey concluded with the celebration of the Holy Mass in the Shrine. The relatives of those who participated were waiting for them, and some even had a rose in their hand as if to say: we missed you, but I was happy to know where you were.

Surely, the smile of the angels will accompany the Schoenstatt Family of Peru for a long time during their daily apostolate.
