ARGENTINA, Pedro Fiorucci/Guada Bravo. Thirteen couples and 110 youth from La Plata had the opportunity to visit two small towns in the province of Entre Rios, they are small but were full of life. They were accompanied by Father Pablo Mullin, Father Juan Pablo Catoggio and the seminarians, Pope and Oscar, who left their mark on the Family Missions. The special thing about the Family Missions is that parents and children go on mission together in the town chosen for the mission –in this case it was Sauce de Luna, where the Rosary Campaign is established, and in Alcaraz, where the Rosary Campaign was introduced at the end of the mission. There was a great impact on the people, but there was also a great impact on the missionaries who participated in the family missions. Challenge for the missionariesAlcaraz and Sauce de Luna, welcomed us with the openness that characterizes the people from Entre Rios. They were people who quickly challenged us and showed that they would not leave us empty handed. We cannot overlook the human warmth with which they welcomed us, their disposition, their response, their rootedness to the religious experience surprised us very much. We experienced incredible realities in a very positive way, with a constructive glance, to look at the future; which questioned us about how we lived and we faced our own realities. We were not only able to share the Mass in their chapel in the late afternoon, and the rosary, but also, a very well attended outing where we could enjoy ourselves together and where we discovered their love for music; one play (The Little Prince); hockey and soccer games; health workshops in the hospital and the pilgrimage, in which the protagonists were our Queen and the people were the protagonists. We were able to reach the outskirts of the town through the radio, and we could continue to communicate with them. During the six days we shared their experiences and ours. We could begin to put into play our originality, the special thing about each town and our desire to joyfully transmit the message of Christ. Faces, names, stories that marked us in a profound mannerNot only did they teach us much about the vitality of their faith, the simplicity with which they love God, the manner in which their religiosity enters their daily customs. Each one of the missionaries took with them faces, names, stories that marked them in a profound manner. They gave us hope and much strength to continue our daily mission, they left us with a sensation that more can be done, that there is much more to do, that they as well as we are fertile ground for foster the love of God and of the Blessed Mother, in building a New Nation. We concluded our time in Entre Rios at the Shrine of La Loma, where all the missionaries shared the Eucharist with the family from Parana who opened their doors and shared this time with us that was truly a song of thanksgiving. One not only takes in the spirit of being MISSIONARY DISCIPLES, but we also take in the family atmosphere . With this ardor that is maintained we are already working on our family missions for the year 2008. Translation: Celina Garza, Harlingen, TX, USA |
