PUERTO RICO, Sr. Isabel Bracero. On Sunday, October 22, at the Schoenstatt Shrine in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico, the Schoenstatt Family crowned the Blessed Mother as "Queen of the Holy Springtime".
Hundreds of pilgrims and members of the Schoenstatt Family of Puerto Rico gathered around the altar of our MTA in the Shrine of Solidarity in Cabo Rojo. The event began with each pilgrim being greeted in front of the Shrine with the message, "Child, conquer your heritage!" Each pilgrim also received a tiny treasure chest as a symbol of their striving to offer all their contributions to the Capital of Grace for the sake of preserving Father Kentenich’s relics. After receiving their treasure chests, the pilgrims processed from the Shrine down to the Pilgrim Center, accompanying the MTA picture that had been blessed and crowned by Father Kentenich in the Jesús Pagán family’s home shrine in Milwaukee. The Schoenstatt Family of Puerto Rico would like to preserve and eventually display the many relics of Father Kentenich donated to them by the Pagán family.
After celebrating with festive music, Sister Maria Palmer gave a beautiful talk that presented the 2006-2007 mottos from the different areas of Puerto Rico. The new mottos are:

On the way to 2014
The beautiful and uplifting Eucharistic celebration was presided over by the recently ordained Father Carlos José Rojas. Monsignor Herminio De Jesús, who made his covenant of love more than 30 years ago; Father Mario Mastrangelo, OFM; and Father Marcelino from the community of the Esclavos de la Eucaristía y María Virgen also concelebrated Holy Mass. Deacons Francisco Lugo and Eduardo González accompanied the Fathers at the altar. In his homily, Father Carlos José extended an invitation to each one there to come close to the throne of grace; for it is a shield and protection, as well as a fountain of strength from which we receive mercy and compassion, security and peace. It is the throne where Christ is seated as King – it is the Cross. And, "who do we find underneath the cross? Mary and the beloved disciple." Therefore, Father Carlos José exhorted us to become aware of the fact that we are a holy springtime is as far we take our Father and Founder as a model of the beloved disciple. Hence, "as the beginning of a new generation we must re--conquer and recuperate, take in and recognize our treasures, the treasures we have in Father Kentenich’s teachings so that we can give them on to the Universal Church", especially when we celebrate Schoenstatt’s hundred year anniversary in 2014.
Queen of the Holy Springtime
The crowning ceremony began very simply with a member of Schoenstatt Girls Youth processing down the middle aisle of the Pilgrim Center, carrying the crown while the Schubert Ave Maria was sung. She left all impressed and silent while waiting for the ceremony to continue. Representatives from the different dioceses, as well as representatives from the Institutes and Federations, presented their contributions to the Capital of Grace and gifts to the Queen of the Holy Springtime. Among the gifts given to our Mother were several Father relics that included, among others, a St. Joseph Statue and the old Ver Sacrum light from the Shrine. Then Father Carlos José crowned the MTA as Queen of the Father’s Holy Springtime.
The whole celebration ended at around 3:00 p.m. with a final blessing. Heartfelt thanks go to all who helped with the beautiful decorations, the gorgeous gardens facing the coast, and the overall organization, which was the hard work of both the Schoenstatt Family and the Sisters. Our hearts were filled with the air of holy springtime, and all could see the joy in the faces of the pilgrims as they left from the Shrine. ˇVer Sacrum Somos Ya!
