VENEZUELA, Konstantin and Teresa Blumers. On September 18th, one month before the starting date of the great journey of "One million children pray the Rosary for unity and peace" a Holy Mass presided by Cardinal Jorge Urosa Savino, Archbishop of Caracas, and concelebrated by Monsignor Saúl Figueroa and other priests was held in the Good Shepherd Parish in Caracas to launch the project.

In spite of the heavy rain, many groups of children from different areas of the city attended. There were also some young people and adults. The Jenaro Aguirre Choir, the singing children of Petare, accompanied the celebration.

The Cardinal’s homily was about the Gospel of the Wedding of Cana, where Mary asks the servants "Do as he says". She trusts in the truth of Jesus and this is when Jesus performs the first miracle.

The Schoenstatters were very happy because the Cardinal celebrated the Holy Mass, and because of the accompaniment of several representatives of the news media.

The tropical storms that were taking place at this time, with the respective flooding of the streets, prevented some people from attending. In spite of this the Church was full. The joy of the organizers grew to see that this was published on the web site of the Venezuelan Episcopal Conference (also in German and English) as well as other international Catholic news agencies, such as Zenit, Catholic Net, and several others.
