ROME, mkf. "The beauty of being Christians and the joy of communicating it" was the theme of the 2nd World Congress of Movements and New Communities that took place two months ago in Rocca di Papa. There, Pope Benedict XVI said that Movements should be "luminous signs of the beauty of Christ and the Church." Several of the delegates that represented the Schoenstatt Movement have reported on their impressions and experiences of this important event.

José Enrique Coeymans was a representative from the Family Federation of Chile. In an excellent interview with "Vinculo", a magazine of the Schoenstatt Movement of Chile, he described his experience and discussed sharing with the Congress the contribution that Schoenstatt makes to the Church with respect to the family.

Marianne Mertke and María Luisa Marchand (german version only)were invited as representatives of the Women’s Federation, and they have also related their experiences and impressions of the Congress in detail on the Internet web site of their community (www.s-fb.org).

Cecilia Sturla (spanish version only) is from Argentina and is presently in the novitiate of the Schoenstatt Institute of Families. Cecilia has summarized the various conferences and contributions made in the Congress in great detail, and she has also reflected back on some of the more difficult points of the Congress. Some of the weaknesses she noted were the general lack of discussion about the family, the balance between the representation of and the knowledge about the Movements, and some of the reflections and exchanges about the subjects discussed.

Finally, Sister M. Elizabet Parodi (spanish version only) of Argentina was invited to the Congress to be an observer from the perspective of theology. In an interview with Angie Santos of the Schoenstatt Press Office, she summarized her first impressions from a theological standpoint.
